Was wondering if there's a race kit for the XB12R and what does it include? When I go to buy the bike I would like to have something like that installed, mainly due to the fact that the stock muffler is a bit to quite for me (I don't want D&D loud) and since I ride with my parents who have Screaming Eagles on their bike I kinda have to compete somehow. Also, does the race kit help in performance any way or is it just sound and looks?

Yes there is, it includes the dual outlet ceramic coated muffler, a race ECM and Race air cleaner.
Retail is 659.00
Badweb price is 593.10
Helps sound(not as loud as D+D) and performance.

Is the race kit worth it over all to put on? What all comes in it?

cataract you want a drum drum drum DRUMMER. yeah thats what you want, they sound REAL GOOD, run real strong too. get you an XB, and put a drummer on. it wont be as loud as the squawkin chickens yer folks have, but will have a much lower deeper tone, not real loud at idle, or puttin through town, but starts to roar when cranked up. you will like it. price is right too. later, dean

Was curious. What muffler comes with the race kit for the XB12? I've been hearing a lot about the Drummer and wondered if that's what comes with the race kit.

Ryan,
The factory race kit comes with a dual outlet, ceramic coated muffler, along with the other parts I have already mentioned.

The Drummer is a muffler designed by Kevin and Bubba and works very well with the race ecm and race air filter that you can purchase if you decide to go that route. The Drummer muffler is a reworked stock muffler.

So, the options are, buy the complete factory race kit that includes the dual outlet ceramic coated muffler, the race ecm and the race air filter.
OR Buy a Drummer muffler, a Race ecm and a race air filter.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. Wonder if the price would be about the same if I bought the Drummer, race ecm and race air filter. BTW, possible to install all of this myself? I'm pretty good with working on bikes as on my first bike I did all the work. Also, is there a repair manuel out there like Haynes?

Look under accessories to see factory stuff. Get the Service Manual from your dealer.

I've got the race ECM and filter along with the DRUMMER pipe on my XB12R. It runs and sounds great.

I'd strongly recommend this combo!!

Cat...

your local HD shop will need to set the throttle position sensor by plugging a computer into you bike electronics. The rest of the install is relative simple. Get a factory service manual... and don't forget to take out the snorkle which restricts the intake path (my local dealer forgot that little step)... the shop has to plug in and set the TPS for the bike to run correctly.

You will love the changes the kit makes!!!

Hey, Daves -- what muffler comes with that, and is it as loud as the D&D? I don't want it to be that loud, you know... I sure hope it's ceramic coated... Oh yeah, how much? What if I just get the ECM? Then how much?

I was digging under all of what comes with the race kit. Was wondering if in the end I would be better getting the ECM, K&N filter and a Drummer muffler? Good combo? Also, with a new pipe will I be able to keep the butterfly flap that controls the backpressure to keep the torque?

None of the pipes except the stock one have the Butterfly valve.

Heres an idea. When & if you buy the bike, why not keep it stock for awhile & learn how to ride it properly before you toss a bunch of $$ at it?

If you live in Australia you won't need the race ECM 'cause they don't work down here on 12's yet. But you can always keep the butterfly flap in the original muffler under your bed - and the backpressure and torque will be well looked after with the fitment of the Drummer. : )

Accually Dyna, I've been thinking about just going with what you said lately. Think I might just tool around on it for a bit and then move up. Same thing I did with my FZR.

Thats the way to do it. Plus by waiting a bit, you can let everyone else be the beta test pilots for the aftermarket goodies & you can usually get some good deals on some great parts as newer & supposedly better stuff comes out.
