I'm trying to make as upright as a riding position as possible. I'm going to either use taller bars or risers... my question is how high can I go before cables or wiring becomes a problem? By just removing the the handlebar clamp and lifting up on the bars, it looks like they can go up ~2". The brake hose is clearly too short, stock is 32". HD part # 45156-89D is 34", it's a late 80's big twin rear hose. I ordered a Russell brand braided version. Any input or experience is appreciated. Thank you. |

Looks can be deceiving! I replaced my lighting bars with renthals a while back and while the mounting was perfect, the extra 1 inch stretched the throttle and idle cable too far to lock the throttle open. Kinda like cruise control. Also the cable wouldnt snap back. I spend days re routing my lines trying to figure it out. End result, i stuck with the city bars and stock cables. Depending on what riding position you are going for, ive seen uly bars give the most upright riding position. Of course the cables were replaced too! After your final decision make sure you turn the bars to either end and snap the throttle. If it doesnt return, try try again! (Message edited by sam_07 on November 25, 2009) |
