My least flattering moment was last Friday when I hit some really fine gravel mid apex and found myself sliding down the road at 35-40mph into a ditch.

Had it been nothing but road everything would have been great but the ditch was deep. It was like smacking a wall.

Just got off work, sitting in the parking lot letting my bike warm up. I had put my Drummer on the day before and was talking with a few guys about it, revving it up and whatnot. It was quite cold, in the 30's, and I didn't take into account the cold tires. Pulled out of my parking space a little too fast and lowsided in front of almost the entire staff as they walked to their cars. Scraped up knee, scraped and dented my freshly coated headers, and really bruised my ego.

Ow. You OK MetalStorm?

I slid an M2 into a ditch a lot deeper then that, full of big rocks. But was within a few inches of a complete stop before I hit the slippery gravel and the poor thing nosed in.

Had to ride the thing about 100 yards over some pretty gnarly stuff before I hit a point where I could exit the ditch.

I'm fine. I wish I could say the same for the bike. Her front end got tweaked.

Only damage to me was a sore shoulder and I re tweaked my back. No scratches, cuts or bruises. No scratches on the helmet either. The Aerostich Roadcrafter needs a whole new left arm and shoulder though.

I think it was even more unflattering later that evening (it happened early, early morning) when I finally got someone to help me pull it out of the ditch with a come along while I steadied her.

It's a small town. I think damn near everyone I know drove by while I was getting her out so it was pretty embarrassing.

But at least now, they all understand why I always wear that funny suit when I ride : )

I can't believe I'm going to admit this but it is true...

Surfing another website one day I saw a pic posted by Howard Kelly of him standing BESIDE a brand new screaming eagle road glide svo bike. He was only touching the bike with one hand and was smoking the tire real good. A couple of weeks go by and I can't get that pic out of my head.
So I'm at some friends house listening to their band practice and there are several folks there. The band says they will do one more and then take a break. I walk out to my '03 XB9S thinkin evil thoughts. I start the bike and straddle it but I'm not sitting on it. I light the tire up and let go with my left hand so that the only contact I have with the bike is my right hand. I think to myself - hey I can do this! About that time the band breaks and people come outside the garage where the band is. I yell "HEY Y'ALL WATCH THIS!" I stand to the right of my nearly new Buell and attempt to light up the tire again. I'm having some trouble because the tire is still hot, nice and sticky. I say what the hell and twist the wick all the way up and dump the clutch while holding the front brake. It seems that a front brake doesn't do anything when the wheel is about 4 feet off the ground. The riderless machine launched into the garage, flattening band equipment, beer cans and boxes of shit. I had to buy his landlord a new ladder.

ok, this isn't my "least" flattering moment, but I'm sure almost all of us can share.

You go out to your bike and get ready to go on a ride. you put your helmet on the seat so you can finish putting on your jacket. Start the bike so it can warm up for a minute. You are then struck with a sound that you know wasn't a good one... You look on the ground (concrete, asphalt, or some other hard abrasive surface... never grass) only to find your very expensive (carbon fiber) helmet rolling around with a huge scratch on it. DAMN!!! Directions say to throw it out after that impact... I think not!

Tell me this hasn't happened to you at least once???

Never. When mine hit the asphalt, my head was in it.

My helmet has taken a tumble off of my bike, so you are not alone! Granted, it was not carbon fiber, but still sucks none the less.

Panhead Dan....best one so far!!! Hahahahaha!

Panhead, wish I was there to see. That must have been some wheelie!

It was more than a wheelie. Kinda like an explosion. The bike actually left the ground - both wheels.

I've got more but many of them are not on a Buell. I've been thinking of writing a book titled "STUPID MOTORCYCLE TRICKS"

I'm laughing with you... I bet it was an event. I'm sure the drummer didn't like it!

And I'd by the book!

How bout a Honda one?

Back in the 70's I was riding a 750F3 and had had a rough summer. I had dumped it 3 times and winter was looming so I decided to take it into the house and fix it all up over the winter. The problem was that the house was 2 story and I had the upper floor. The staircase was very steep and had 21 steps with a sharp left turn on the top landing to the door. If that sharp turn was not made properly I would end up falling about 8 feet, probably through the roof below. I figured I would smooth the whole job up by nailing a 2X4 to the steps and ride the bike up it, stop at the top, shut her down and push it into the kitchen.
Are you visualizing this?
I get a good run at it, hit the 2X4 just right and run out of momentum about halfway up. The bike falls over, squishing my face on the handrail and bump bump slam all the way to the bottom. Not being a quitter, I got a longer run at it and had similar results. On the third attempt, I'm about half a block down the street gripping my bent handlebars while holding in the broken clutch lever and bleeding from several places. I was focussed and just getting ready to launch all the while knowing that at this velocity I was in all likelyhood going to overshoot the top landing and end up through the lower roof into my downstairs neighbors kitchen. Right then my landlord pulls up and asks me whats up? I tell him what I'm trying to do and about the first two failed attempts. He looks me right in the eye and says

"Why don't you use the basement?"

All I could say is "We got a basement?" (while wiping the blood from my right eye....)

True story and I got a million of em.

I rode the @ss end of the bike off Requiring a new belt, new axle, axle shims, bearings, belt guard, brake rotor, brake caliper, new pads (of course) And a very long visit to the repay shop.
Rode 62 miles of pavement, had a blast....apparently I had too much fun.

Mistress says bad bike.

I am still waiting on all my parts, the last ride was Sept 1.
