I am as responsible as anyone for dragging the thread in the "undesireable" direction.

Sorry, I get stoked when a fellow Bueller has such skills..

It's all good. You clearly have a fine product. I do, however, agree with Blake's thoughts.

Hopefully by the time I have $$ to spend on another seat, you will have considered sponsorship!

Cheers.

Seriously, you won't buy a custom seat from gowindward because he isn't a site sponsor?

Is there some rule about this that I missed as a newbie or is this just an unwritten code here?

I'm jst asking for future reference, not trying to cause a firestorm.

Dancing Dogs, it isn't cut and dry like that. Part of it is an unwritten code, because the sponsors are what keep this place running. The other part is, there are people that will try repeatedly to circumvent the rules and advertise without paying.

Nobody is forcing you to purchase wherever you purchase from. If I need something the sponsors don't sell, I get it elsewhere.

Thanks Froggy. I haven't been on here long enough to have any feel for this forum. I'm still quietly soaking up as much Buell info as possible and don't want to offend anyone by accident!

It's a written and well-documented code, in the user agreement we all agreed to when we signed up. Here is the line from it:

"Absent permission from a board custodian, I will refrain entirely from the promotion and/or marketing of commercial merchandise or other similar/competing web sites."

I'm not here to police it, but I do value this site, and understand that the sponsors make it happen. So yes, if given the option, I would choose a site sponsor over a non-sponsor. I think that Loren makes a great product, but if there is no financial benefit to him sponsoring this site...then why would he? So my whole point is not to point him out, rather to say there IS a financial benefit to him for sponsorship! I'd love to buy from him, and will consider if he sponsors. I try to be loyal like that. : )

Cool content gone...now just the drama is left. I'm sure "the sponsors" and members love drama over cool content.

A friend, who was called home to his maker last Thursday, turned me on to a guy that does some highly rated modifications to stock seats that yield the equivalent of an expensive custom seat for a fraction of the price. Something like $75 for the most expensive option.
His approach is similar to the exhaust gutters. He takes your stock seat. Remove the padding and replaces it with dual density foam and gel inserts that relieve pressure points.
I am planning on sending my Seat down in January when I send my pipe out for a "sound adjustment."
I have no affiliation with the seat mod guy. I like the price and the idea behind what he does. I will report back on the results. Anyone interested in info can PM me for the link. I don't want to risk upsetting the sponsor/non-sponsor balance here.

Mark, are you talking about Frank at http://greatdaytoride.com/Home_Page.php?

He does get good reviews. From my understanding of his work, he is not a "stitcher" and the seat will look pretty much just like the stock seat.

I like being more creative and it is the part I enjoy most about the work. There is a place for everyone.

I never saw any drama, I simply asked a question. Heck, I even praised your seat a couple of times!

I'll repeat my stance: I like your product, I value BadWeb, I buy from BadWeb sponsors whenever possible. That's it, that's why I wanted to know if you're a sponsor or not. And I think its good for you to know that choosing to support this site can bring you more business.

Good luck in your endeavors.

Loren, Yes. That be the one.
Since most of the aftermarket seats also lower the seat it, they hold little interest for me. At 6' my XB12Ss fits nicely with the stock geometries. That is why the great day mod appeals to me.
I like to look of many of the after market seats. But they do not fit my fat back side and longish legs. But at least I know I can improve my horsepower to weight ratio by about 17% at no cost to me. All I have to do is lose 100 pounds. I'm built more for a Fat Bob but my knees are still young enough for the Buell. But anything that lowers my seat will make the 140 mile ride out to Wilson NC twice a month a bit cramped in the knees.

Mark, there is a big difference between an "aftermarket production seat" and "custom seat" made to fit you.

Dave, thanks for the invite!

Andy, currently I do not feel there would be an ROI to advertising on the board. Nothing personal it's only business, just like Badweb is a business for Blake.
