Hello all!

I had my stock bars on my 2003 XB9S for a couple years....

thought I wanted a more aggressive position so I bought some crossroads 0 degree bars.
Well, its too much for half midget me.
Im 5'5" and its just too much lean over for me.
Forces me to put too much weight on the bars, which is really throwing my handing off.

Short of just throwing my stock bars back on, whats a good bar that is just slightly shorter then stock?

American Sport Bike has some low renthals.....

anyone have pics of anything in between.

THANKS!!!
-Robert

ther'e about as low as you can get with minimal pullback and no clearance issues.
the bikemaster clubmans were a no-go for me, but the wifey likes em on her blast.

i have yet to go for a long ride with them ... i'll let you know.

I love my ProTaper SE Carmichael bars. I had them at full width, but they had almost too much leverage. Shortened them to be about an inch longer then stock, and they feel perfect. I've done a few 500+ mile round trips with them, no complaints.

Nillaice,
does the clubmans on the blast allow you to lock the steering?

if you put them on upside down.... or is it right side up? it's not too much of a change from the stock position, but the angles are a little different.

Really curious about the bars AL at American Sport Bike has, waiting to hear back from him.......

I have the low renthals on my bike from American Sport Bike. They are really nice. A little lower than stock, a tad wider, and the finish almost matches the graphite gray finish of the frame.

I'm thinking I want just a tad shorter then stock.....

Thanks

Rah7777777, do you still have the crossroads 0 degree bars on your bike? I ask because I too have been thinking about getting new bars. I live in McKinney TX and would like to sit on your bike to see if I like them.

fyi - the bikemaster superbike bars don't neccessarily put your hands at a lower position. the stock bars have a downward slope to them while the superbikes have an upward flare.

By the time you get to the very ends of hte bar the stock are actually lower.

If that makes sense to anyone... I dunno. But I switched back to stock.

Tubular Handlebars are very difficult to quantify how they will feel just by looking at the raw numbers (i.e., rise, height, pullback). That's because they aren't mounted on the bike in a vertical plane like they are quantified. As you rotate the bar in the clamp, rise (i.e. the height difference between the end of the bar and the bend) becomes pullback, and pullback becomes droop. Most bars have some rise in them, yet if you had them mounted on the bike with them actually going up towards the end, they'd feel REAL goofy.

The Renthal ultralows have been very popular, and would probably be the bars that I'd run on a Lightning if I wanted something less aggressive than the Crossroads pseudo clip-ons. But I run the Renthal Lows on my Uly, because the flatter bend of the Ultra-Lows are too far forward for where the seat cup is on a Uly.

Now if I could just get the US distributor to bring the BLACK ones in instead of just grey, silver and gold. I'm in the process of special ordering some black ones, but it'll take several weeks to get them.

Al

after 8 hours of gripping, i agree with Xl_cheese's review. but i'm keeping them on the bike. i kinda like the slope.
they are not as wide and (to me) almost feel noticeably lower than stock ... it's debatable.
