Warranty should take care of it. Hopefully the dealership has one though. Even though I would really rather just get a new exhaust, funds are lacking at the moment. |

I've noticed more failures on the 2008's than any other year, I believe they got a bad batch. Warranty will cover it, if your dealer is good they will order one ahead of time for you so you can bring it in and get it down with minimal downtime. |

As long as it's stuck closed it should harm the power that much should it? |

I had mine fail on my 09 couple weeks back. Dealership didn't have it in stock. Service guys is a badwebber. He took one off of a new bike in storage and put it on mine and ordered the new one for the other bike. It was pretty cool of him. |

I ordered one today for my 08. Warranty won't cover mine because I broke it. Your's should be covered though. Don't ask how I did it, it's embarrassing. Anyway, $180.00 and a week wait. Backordered..... You could buy a cable clamp, pull the cable to open the valve and clamp it in the "open" position until you get it repaired if you're worried about the valve being closed all the time. I just rode mine 60 miles with the valve closed to the dealer. A little sluggish but shouldn't destroy your weekend. (Message edited by brandon_m on July 03, 2009) |

Mine died this week also. However I just finished with Dismounting/mountimg muffler.I was as careful as possible with cable while disconnecting. It seems as this actuator is very fragile inside, I took it apart and saw were it broke. Crappy design there is a updated version that sells for 164.00 I think. My bike is under warranty but just finished putting on new exhaust and didn't want to deal with the hassle. The dealer probably would just say Warranty void due to me installing aftermarket exhaust. Anyway they had an old version in stock. no down time but had to put discontinued version in only 80.00 for that one. Next time I will take actuator off first when removing muffler. BTW was your valve making humming noise and did you get engine light? |

Bikes already at the shop. Hopefully it doesn't take them long, they've been good with me so far. Glitch, with it closed, you can difinately feel the loss in power. It no longer has the good hit you feel once you get it up to 3500-4k, it just pulls slugishly throught the rev range with no real snap. |
