There is a local dealer that has a leftover 2007 XB12STT in stock. It's a new bike, never been sold. I've always love the look of the STT, and I don't want to get a problematic 08 (compared to the 07, the 08s seemed to have more issues).

What would be a good price for it? Considering that the 09's have been out for a while now, I'm guessing $8500ish?

Thanks all, I may be joining the Buell family...

I agree with Rydberg. I wouldn't go above $8000 out the door.

same here, nothing above 8000. if they are like everyone else they just want to move inventory and they will take 8000 for it seeing it has been sitting there for 3 years.

Should I be concerned about any parts needed replacement from sitting for 3 years?

I agree, heck I paid $8500.00 out the door in '07 for my STT. I did have to cover taxes in another state above that BUT that was when they were current models

They may try to sell it out the door $8,001.99. If they do, walk on their sorry hineys. Then make them give it to you for $7950.00 out the door. And if they try $7,951.99, walk again. Don't let them win. There are plenty of Buells out there.

That's just me. The real question is; what do you think it is worth.

if it has been sitting there for 3 years chances are it has been on a test ride. tell them $7500 cash is the only way you will take it. be firm.

Same bike, same price, just in March '08.

KBB also lists the value at 7000 flat for it. That should be another good bargaining chip.

Make sure it hasn't been reported sold so it has a full warranty. Battery and fluids should be changed as well. Look at book values, it may be "new" but as soon as you own it, it's 3 years old, let them pay the loss for stupidity, not you.
I made a couple of offers on "new" 2007 Super TTs and they still have them over a year later

Another good tip about it being sold.

Hopefully I can test ride a XB this weekend. We'll see.

"KBB also lists the value at 7000 flat for it. That should be another good bargaining chip."

That's a bargaining chip for the dealer- if it's worth $7000 used with an expired or almost expired warranty, then surely it's worth a couple Gs more for a new one, never owned, new warranty etc. Just don't screw yourself with that one!

So if it's worth more than KBB because it has warranty I would ask if I had to pay extra for the warranty if I had walked in 2 years ago looking to buy. If you didn't have to pay for the warranty then you shouldn't have to pay for it now.

You do pay for it, duh. It's built into the price of the bike. My point: KBB is not intended to value a new bike, it is giving the value of a used bike, with average miles and average wear and tear. If I was a dealer and you brought the $7000 figure to me, I'd say sounds good, add $2000 to that because it's new, no miles and has a full factory warranty. $8000 OTD would be about $7300 sales price in most states. A $300 premium for a brand new bike over a used one with 10,000 miles and no warranty left??

Ok...or...the dealer can have a brand new, no miles, full warranty, 2 year old bike sitting on the showroom floor for how long...another 2 years?

And I know the price of the warranty is included with the purchase of the bike...that's why I said pay EXTRA for it.

I'm not making any statement as to the actual value of the bike, I'm just saying that the logic (or lack of) behind arguing that a brand new bike with warranty is worth the same or even close to a 2 year old used bike with a bunch of miles and little to no warranty just doesn't make sense.

I am paying mine something like 8.5k out of the door. 2007 brand new. Good advise ... I'll ask for battery/oil/etc.
