Point is, even if John gave the name of the dealer & the employees he talked to, what gives anyone the right to call them up & question them? He repeats what he was told & folks want to jump on him for it. Who says these employees would take 5 seconds to talk to someone from the web that they dont know & why would they?

Its different if its dealer to dealer, but to have someone basically not believe a person & wants to call to confirm or not what they have already been told is wrong.

None of this shit is 100% confirmed, its all guess work & rumors based on whats been told, seen, made up, etc. Take it with a grain of salt & dont believe, or embrace it fully & wait for the day the new bikes arrive. The choice is entirely yours to make, nobody is forcing anyone to believe anything, nobody is forcing anyone to buy or not buy a bike. You want a new 12, go buy 1 & enjoy it. You want to hold off & wait to see if the rumors hold true, do that too.

John I'm not bashing you or what your posting,I'm calling the BS on your dealer. Now if they indeed have facts, great but do you think they should be telling you this???The bikes will be shown to the dealers I believe in July,Daves correct me if I'm wrong,6 months from now.I don't care if they stay aircooled, watercooled or if there powered by two squirrel's and a bag of nuts BUELL I'll like them the same.

Now if they indeed have facts, great but do you think they should be telling you this???

Whats the matter if they do want to spill the beans? Its not our job to be the morality police & determine if a confidentiality clause was broken or not, personally I could care less about that stuff. Some one gives me info & asks me to say nothing, then I do that, but if they give me info & simply tell me to not say where I got it from, well thats no problem either.

Jeez Dyna do you like the sound of your own voice or what? The answer by the way is BECAUSE THEY'RE THE FUCKING DEALER and that's what they SHOULD do - endorse the product - not bull shit the customer.

Perhaps you all are close but shooting at the wrong target. What if HD, not BMC, intro'd a V-Rod powered Street Tracker or Street Fighter? Well, at least something more nimble and sporting than what they are currently producing.

One major flaw of a Buell with a V-Rod engine is frame vs available space for the additional hardware. We all agreed last winter that it would have to be a tuber. Well, of the two companies, who makes tubers?

Interesting concept, eh? Keep dreaming!

My God but how this thread has grown. It's funny (not in a haha way) how we can get so worked up over something that at best is very subject to change and at worse is never going to happen at all. This whole topic is currently being fuelled by our perceptions. Everyone has their own perception of what's right & wrong. I'm gonna keep my perceptions and wishes in check and just wait and see what happens. I'm kind of excited to see what comes down the line.
However, I have no intention of prolonging my Buellish needs by waiting for a new bike to come out. Screw that! What they have now is great (for me, absolutely perfect) and I'd rather live in the "here & now" than dream of tomorrow. But that's just me and my perceptions.

Live & let live. Ride and let ride. Different spokes for different folks. Take your pick.
I don't even have a Buell yet and I've gotten drawn into this. Sheesh, I need to pull the Sporty out and go for a brisk ride. Maybe I'll pretend she's a shiny red 12R.

How do you feel about an Aprilia Mille R for $14,000?

Which is why there are many new unsold 2002 and a few new unsold 2001 Aprillia's still in showrooms.

Perhaps you all are close but shooting at the wrong target. What if HD, not BMC, intro'd a V-Rod powered Street Tracker or Street Fighter?

I think this is more likely to happen before a water cooled Buell.

Just got back from the International Motorcycle Show in NYC. The reps from the Buell Factory weren`t saying about a new model. But they were handing out coupons for $500.00 off any model Buell purchased before March 2004. Didn`t i mention something about a price reduction last week...

In my most cynical tone:

Who cares. When you are ready for your next bike, buy what you want. If it is made in America, fine. If not, get over it.

The coupons for $500 at the show were getting handed out like candy. Not just to present or previous owners.

No one should give anybody's name with regard to the instant topic.

Coupons in January in NYC sound like good marketing. Be interesting to see what the velocity of the inventory is and the number of inventory turns per month. Coupons may make sense. Most folks with a $500 coupon, if and when the arrive at the store, feel like they have $500 of someone else's money and spend it on other, much higher margin, gear. It's shifts revenue between prodcut, not to competing goods. Econ 101

Thanks Rocket - precise and to the point.

As for Morality Police - all you can judge people on is what they do and what they say (write). Something to keep in mind (preferably) before you hit the Send button - be that verbally or on the web.

Court,
Your comment on the coupon is right 100%. I`m sure everyone would use that $500 to buy the race kit or maybe a helmet or jacket.

For the rider on the fence in regards to purchasing a Buell over another Brand the $500 coupon will sway alot of riders towards Buell.}

The new Cycle World hit the mailbox today. Dave Edwards talks about the International Bike of the Year selection process. Interesting to note that the German voters at Motorrad MO picked out XB12S as their number one choice. They said " Who ever expected a winning bike from the Buell factory? But the latest long stroke hammering V-twin from Wisconsin is more than just a unique and oddball statement from a nonconformist manufacturer. This bike is really well done and amazingly good. It reminds us of what makes motorcycle riding worthy and inspiring."

Pretty cool eh? The XB did win overall or even place but cool to get a first place vote from a very tough motorcycle market. Overall winner was the GSXR Suzuki.

I DISAGREE TOTALLY.

If a Buell dealer is telling any of their customers a new model with certain features is due out THEY have an OBLIGATION to Buell and to their customer\s never mind themselves to back the offered information with facts and the first fact they should offer is their own freekin name - something they should be proud to stand by no matter what product they're selling and more so as in this scenario because the alleged dealer is telling the customers to hold off buying a current model based on the information they're offering.

By the way I don't believe Court's comment was said for any other reason than to avoid an onslaught of BadWeB brethren bombarding the alleged dealer with our demands for their comments. Not good for BadWeB if for example the dealer was misquoted or the offered information came from a dealer employee who may have based the comments on a rumour they'd heard. Still I don't suppose it would harm if the odd individual or three were to simply ask the alleged dealer for comments which is why I implied some1 make a phone call.

Been out riding quite a bit lately and this thread has me thinking about what i want next.

A very smooth shifting 6 speed with overdrive to drop revs a tad at 75 mph.

A lighter clutch action.

About 20 lbs more ft torque down low.

Thats about it. That would be a very nice additon to a great bike.

XB9S that is.

Outstanding! Now they are finally realizing why I like my X1. Additionally, the quote applies to every model Buell ever produced.

Hey, all!
Remember this:
One of Erik's basic operating principles is weight reduction. The powerplant on the XB9 weighs in around 185 lbs. How much weight will water cooling and associated plumbing add? I'm not sure what the VRod motor weighs, but more than 185, I'd bet.
Another one of his BOP's is lower center of gravity. Which is why he chose to stay with a pushrod engine rather than an overhead cam...keep the mass low, therefore the c.g.
Not that don't think Erik & Co. wouldn't or couldn't go water cooled, but given what I just wrote, I doubt very much (IMHO)it would be a VRod motor.Think about it....
Now I'll get off my soapbox and go away.
