Have read a few posts where header studs snapped from heavily corroded nuts. Recently I removed my headers without issue and reinstalled prior to reading the thread. I’m thinking about removing the nuts and putting never seize on the stud threads. The engine is still on the scissors jack so it can be easily rotated. Should I do this or am I wasting my time? If I never seize the studs how much should I lower the manual torque spec? Thoughts and comments would be appreciated. |

All of my broken studs had more to do with broken exhaust hangers rather then corroded studs or nuts. |

Yeah - improper torque. If one nut backs off, the OTHER stud breaks. Overtorque (very common when done "by feel") means more chance of busting the studs too. |

Never-sieze and an inspection/maintenance routine all the way. I split the difference with the torque wrench between the high and low specified quantities. |
