I had to put on my new license plate (03 Bolt) which the PO moved to attach through the "battery box" under the seat (legal? maybe, maybe not).
So I had to pull off the seat, to get under the battery.
Getting the seat off and on SUX, not to mention the part about "taking the rear plastic off to replace the battery" missing from the service manual.

I know I'm beatin a dead possum, but like I said, just venting!

Dunno, I replaced the battery on my '04 bolt without taking the rear plastic off. I did smash my index finger a bit, but that's my stupidity.

Hey, at least the guy didn't drill holes in the ECM to move the plate! : )

I keep the seat un-bolted; sometimes I like the stocker seat and sometimes I like the plusher one.... kuz I got tired of messing with the seat-bolts too

I changed the bolts from the torx to a regular hex head bolt and use one of the box end ratchets on the seat. Way better than screwing with prying the seat back, just slide it in there and ratchet away.

Man. Makes me glad the S seats just pop right off with the turn of a key.

I did not have issue getting the battery out, it was getting it positioned back in place and the retaining strap on.
The position the battery was in was "lying on its back pointed toward the tail lights and the positive cable running on top of the battery which obstructed the seat".
Is this Correct?

It would not position flat enough without taking the plastic off.

I bought a socket with a torx bit for the seat. A better tool than in the Buell tool kit.

My stepdad always says "the difference between a man that hates to do maintenance and one that smiles at the end of it, is the right bag of tools."
