AAARRRGH!!!! Someone tried to steal my trusty CityX last night. They bashed out my ignition lock, broke my left side mirror, and various scrapes and dings. Thank god for the fork lock. Now i just need to get it fixed. Well thank you all for listening.

Very dumb crooks...

Glad you still have the bike!

I have a gas cap and key switch with key if you need them.

People are ignorant. If you want something bad enough to go to jail for stealing it, get a damn job and pay for it like everyone else does! I guess stealing is easier.

Set up some CCTV cams....cheap and easy to install.

That fork lock is easily defeated, at least most of them are. I haven't actually tried to break my fork lock.

I bought the onguard 25mm cable lock for at work and I plan to add an anchor and the beast chain for home.

It sounds like a beefy chain or cable would have prevent the damage to your bike. Anyone that can't defeat the ignition lock or fork lock, isn't going to bother trying to cut a big ass chain.

I am very sorry to hear that maybe you should keep it inside the house instead or what Firebolt32 said.just last week I had a guy try to break in my home while I was working my ADT siren went off and he ran....BUT not before my cameras recorded him casing the house "on a bicycle" and he even looked right at 1 of the cams he must of thought it was fake.I have cameras on all 4 corners of my home and a 1 terabyte harddrive to keep track of it all.needless to say he was caught due to my cameras they saw him riding down the road and BUSTED. I wish I was home hed have a 10MM slug in his chest instead of being in jail.If you are interested I will post the link L8R where I bought mine its the best 350 dollars you will ever spend.

OK after alooooot of searching I found the place where I bought mine.....I am amazed at how much crap I have on my favorites link well anyways.

This is the closest one like I got but I have a different dvr but the same cameras.Dont worry about the memory size as you can install any hardrive size as long as its a pata/IDE.I used the one that came with it till I found a good sale on a 500gig and bought 2 to make it a terabyte. It comes with all the wires and everything so really nothing else needed till you want to upgrade the memory.Hope this helps.

Pretty much anything this store sells is good quality I have had mine for 4 years now and no problems yet so.Also the person I talked to was very helpful when I contacted them as in the begining I didnt know jack about this stuff. Its so easy you will be amazed now I am like a minor expert in this stuff I even modded my DVR to have a cd burner in it.

OH also these things have badass night vision they can see in total darkness when mounted outside.

Buy a cheap bike alarm and disconnect the siren.

Attach a capacitor to where the siren was in a place the thief is likely to fiddle with - the ignition wiring.

Leave the bike out in the open and have a video camera handy to tape the lowlife being shocked to shit.

Send the video to Americas/Australias Funniest home videos.

Job done.

The thieves will probably be back.

My neighbor bought a lawn tractor that was to wide to fit through the shed door. He chained it up to a telephone pole for about a week. One night the some thieves came cut the chain and pushed half way across the lawn and gave up on it. A few nights later they came back and took the tractor.

A mate of mine installed the above ALARM system on his bike and used to leave it out in a not so nice place just to hear the buggers scream. He used to sit by the window and giggle to himself as they copped the full force of the capacitor.

The sick bastard.

There has been so many bikes stolen this year in KC, its sick! Just the guys I ride with have had atleast 20 bikes taken from all over town. Seems like you'd see them riding around on the stolen bikes.

I'd like to know where they all go! Its not like there's a ton of bikes being parted out on ebay or CL?

Springfield MO has had a ton stolen, too. Local cop says the methheads steal them to run from cops.

I say that cop is looking for excuses because he can't find the bikes.

It's hardest to find a bike when it's a ring stealing them.

Do you guys have Data Dot identification over there?

Works well in making your bike not worth stealing for parts as every part on the bike has microscopic id numbers on it and you have a sticker on the bike to let the lowlifes know.

"Do you guys have Data Dot identification over there?"

Suppose we did.
The cops would still have to find the bike...

Off topic, but my local gas station has been robbed 4 times in 5 weeks. You'd think the cops would do a stake out to catch the guy, but instead the local gas station changed their business hours so they aren't open so late.

Pathetic! It costs to much man hours to do any real police work anymore. Policing nowadays is just waiting for the crooks to slip up.

Yeah, It's getting frustrating. Here we are all of us working, going to school, trying to ride when we can and some low life P.O.S. can ruin our day with a hammer, a screw driver, and no skill ( in my case anyway). And I'm really pissed because I couldn't even get a good thief. Did Memphis Raines come to my house? No it was his idiot cousin Mongo! Now instead of insurance taking care of it, I have to fix it.

Yes they would still have to find it.

The whole idea of the Data Dot and letting the would be thief know about it is that the parts are traceable if that is the intent.

I sold my bike in April to a kid that lives in Shawnee, and it was stolen from his apartment complex a day and a half after he picked it up from me. It was never found. I'm sure it was parted out and ended up all over the country.

I would recommend finding someplace to keep the bike inside, whoever said they would be back is probably correct. I always kept mine in one of the warehouses at work so it didn't get stolen or have to sit outside. A theif will steal anything that is easy to access. If you make it difficult to steal they will usually go for something else.

For what a good looking fake cctv cam cost you can buy a real one nowadays.

Not to mention a good thief or someone who knows their stuff can tell the difference.

If you are looking for fake cams they sell them a northern tools they also sell real ones but they are a little pricey compared to others.

Just My .02 cents
