I've a black XB12R and i would like a better sound! I have never driven it with the standard exhaust(the valvething)I've put the racecan of my xb9 on it along with the KNfilter and stock Ecm because i donn't like the torque curve with the race-ecm for the12(los)Is there anyone who can change the stock Exhaust so it makes a good noise with the valve still in it?(buckkingfubba?)

look for the dynos in the "updated and revisions to the drummer" thread in the oct 15th archives.

we use the stock can to do this but we close the valve off. It sounds great but most off it kept that smooth power band.

Bluefirebolt,

Buy a DRUMMER for your 12, you won't be sorry!!

It's real cool here now and I haven't been able to ride for over two weeks. I pulled the 12 out of the garage Sunday, fired it up and I was all smiles!! Gutted out a short ride around the neighborhood and just about froze but I'm still grinning from the great sound!!

Put a DRUMMER on that bad boy!!

Bads1,

Do you mean replacing the stock air filter with K&N filter would worsen performance, or modifying the stock exhaust?

No I mean putting a 9 race can and a K&N filter with the stock ECM that is designed to work with the interactive XB12 exhaust only hurt the performance of his bike.

Its all about the interactive exhaust when you are using the stock ECM on a 12. Therefore, by removing the stock exhaust with the interactive valving you just hurt the performance of the motorcycle. The valve is in there for a reason, not just for a media spotlight!

The torque curve that you didnt like that was shown for the race kit was not caused solely by the race ECM, rather a combination of the entire kit. The stock curve is better, WHY???? Because of the VALVE!!! So, if you didnt like the look of the race kit torque curve, trust me, you DON'T want to see a dyno chart of your bike right now!

If you want an improvement over what you have at this minute, buy the race ECM. If you want an improvement over that, buy the Drummer. It has been specially tuned using hours of exhaustive child labor, well maybee not really. Lots of hours of Bubba and Company labor, and since Bubba is just a child at heart, its close enough.

yes I am a child at heart and in maturity level...ya rat bastard

but actually supposidly and this is from buell the race ecm even tho it has the hook up wont acuate the valve on the 12 pipe. I know I know it should but they said it don't. I guess one could try it and find out but thats what they told me.
I thought that would be a good upgrade for someone not needing the noise so I called them and thats what they told me.

oh well get the drummer and the ecm and smile large

Bluefirebolt,
You have a LOT to learn about what does and does not improve performance on your bike. In my opinion, you've probably diminished the performance by a significant margin in its current confuguration.
