I try'd finding a thread in the knowledge vault but couldn't find one for engine electrical.

Here's my problem.
I can't figure this one out.
Every once and a while when I start the bike, mostly cold, the cel will rapidly flash 10 times, pause, flash 10 times and it keeps going until I shut it down and restart it.
There are no codes, past or present.
I looked in the service manual and the only time it should flash without pin 1 and 2 looped is when its overheating. Even then it will just constantly flash.
It will only flash 10 times over and over, so its not giving me a code according to the manual. 10 doesn't make any since. Without the connectors looped, if it has a code, it will do the 4 sec cycle and pause no light, then the light will return for 8 sec if there is a past code. The light will remain on if there is a current code after the 4 sec and pause with out the light.
On the other hand the bike runs fine and doesn't seem to have any problems.
Please help.

-mike

Check the main wiring harness that runs around your battery. It is probably rubbing the ground wire and it just starting to make connection with one of the wires in the harness. Exact same thing happen to my bike at about 1500 miles, it would flash sometimes, and then it might not do it for a day, then it would be back.

I finally was looking around and pushed that harness down and saw a little shinny spec, sure enough it had just barely rubbed through to the battery terminal. I stuck a peice of foam between it and I have not seen the light come back on, I now have 18000miles on it

Honestly I dont remember counting it. But I would give it a good look. Also use a flash light or something, I looked like three times but it was not till I was out in the sun and it happen to be at the right angle that I saw a tiny reflection which was the very tiny rubbed area right down to the wire
