i thought you might want to see my stop light... it is bright even in the daytime and has numerous flash patterns including steady burn... i also have a running light mounted below it, but i have a toggle switch mounted, so i can shut it off at night, due to its intensity.. the shape of the light just happened to match the curve of the cheese grater. most people said it looked factory....i had to make a plastic piece to mount it on, which took me an hour or so to fabricate.. yep, its an emergency light from a police car, made by whelen..

Awesome! Link to that thing? It runs in parallel with the stock light I assume? That's not a bad idea, though I'd have to fab up a way to run it w/o the cheesegrater... |

ill post some more info on it, so others can do the mod...be advised, this light is a retina melter, which is why i put a cut off switch on the running light, which i attached to the reflector mount below the stop light....these lights are pretty expensive, but ive never seen brighter..other than the light, you will need a piece of quarter inch thick micarta plastic or aluminum.. |

Looks like a Whelen TIR3 light. Having helped put together service bikes for the police, I can verify these lights are B-R-I-G-H-T. One thing to be careful about, the TIR3 is not rated for steady-burn. In other words, it can heat up from being on constantly. They're designed for flash use. I've got a pair of TIR innards on my S2 taillight, set for wig-wag flash only on brake application. I've had them on steady-burn on the test bench and after less than a minute they're too hot to touch. A very nice upgrade though - they'll definitely get you noticed! |
