Been searching the forum for sometime now and picked up some good ideas. I've been reading about lowering my 2003 XB9R. How much can I really lower it? Is it worth the money? What all do I need and where can I get it?

Thanks for the help

the cheap way would be to find some one with a 9SL or a 12Scg who wants to make their's standard height. Then you would trade forks, rear shock and kick stand.

the nice thing is that a lower triple clamp trade would not be needed because the forks are 41mm on your 03 and on the 9Sl and the 12Scg.

Would this work his being a 2005 model and mine being a 2003?

Yes it would really well.
All 03 and 04 XBs have 41mm forks.
All 9SLs and 12Scgs have 41mm forks for all model years.

You wouldn't need to change the lower triple because they're the same size on your 03 9R and his 05 12Scg.

You would only need to swap the forks, the rear shock and the kick stand. Don't forget the kickstand.

Setting the suspension will be a little trial and error as there is no recommended starting point for a 9Rlow : )

I would compare the Scg settings to the standard S settings and note the differences between the two in your weight range and apply it to the R settings. For example, if the preload on a cg is half a line stiffer then the S in your weight range I would set the lowered R preload a half a line stiffer than what the R settings say for that same weight range.

On Edit: If you're registered on Buell's website you can log onto the Owners'section, click over to the owners manual section and view all the different models' suspension settings online.
