I'm to the point in playing/modding with the bike (05 XB9SX) that I'm looking at getting the header's jet hotted (almost local in Pascagoula, MS) silver for the hot summer months. I see an auction on ebay for a set of coated 12 headers, but wonder what havoc that extra middle width will play in the mix. I'm running the '05 Race ECM, K&N with open airbox conversion, 06' airbox w/ screen, and a recently acquired Drummer. I've read up on the boards, but seem to get a variety of responses. I'm not looking to really fine tune the bike, just wondering if the easier path would cause more trouble down the line than it's worth. Thanx in advance for the thoughts!

P.S. Any additional thoughts out there regarding the searing heat under the right thigh from the fan? Is the right side scoop the only way to go, or is there a smaller insert?

no change from the coating or did you bump it up to the 12 header and saw no change? Nice job with the muffler, that completes the look rightly.

I wouldn't put a 12 header on a 9, unless I had EMCspy (or the like) and access to a dyno for some (could be major) tuning.
The 9 ECM isn't set up for the added flow afforded by the 12 header.

I don't know Glitch, I was told by a Buell engineer friend that it would give a little more at the top end, and not affect it elsewhere enough to be concerned. I will be running a 9 motor with a 12 header next race season.

Spec Ops have a heat blanket to keep the heat from removing you inner thigh skin.
About 30 dollars I think.
Also reduces the intake temp/heat soak to the airbox.

I've been known to be wrong before, once or twice.
Thanks for the wisdom from Buell.

If it turns out to be a mistake, I'll be sure to post my findings.

It makes sense, I'd bet though you'll lose some at the bottom.
But, you're racing, and not much worried about that end of the rev range.

Hey man, you live in Biloxi? I just left there in Febuary. I was there from 2003-07. I was actually living in St Martin. The place was really changed after Katrina. Nevertheless I love it there. Anyways, Its tough to find any twisties around there. Have you heard of grand bear? It was probaly one of the only place I found to take the XB through her paces.

If you wanna know where it is I can send you the info.

thanx for the wisdom, all responders. I decided to let the auction slide, and to my odd joy it closed well over what it will cost to coat my 9 headers, so all is well with the world. I live in the bottom end of the torque curve, live less then 10 miles from work and don't do much high end riding, so that warning was enough to sell me on keeping mine and getting them done.

Thanx again and Namastae!
