My girlfriend's sister backed into my bike and pushed it back about 2 feet... luckily it didn't tip over but the kickstand is bent bad, and when the bike is on the kickstand it leans over way too far now... anyway, the weird thing is... the kickstand is bent forward but when I have it in the up position it is right below the foot shifter so when I shift I have to squeeze my foot in between the kickstand and the shifter... anyone know how this could be? I thought if the kickstand was bent forward, if anything it would create more room between it and the shifter. Ok, one more question, anyone know how much a kickstand costs? Thanks.

Wow that bites think I would take it off and try to heat/bend it straight before looking into a new one. It must have bent it below the spring to cause it to extend close to the shifter... Anyway there is not a huge amount of stress on a kick so see it you or a friend can straighten it.

I am way too busy and lazy to try and fix it so I'd rather just buy a new one and install it. One thing I don't understand is how it could be closer to the shifter if it is bent forward. I didn't get a chance to look at it yet in daylight since it happened last night and now I'm at work. Thanks for the advice tho.

I'm with you on the replacement. Remember that the oil level is checked with the bike on the kickstand, so you don't want anything that will cause the bike to lean at a different angle (thus upsetting the oil level measurement).

I'd park it next to another one or measure the angle of a parked on at a dealer to make sure that the mount is not bent.

I just purchased a new kick stand for my '04 model. Tell me what address you want me to send my "spare" side stand to. I can probably have it in the mail on short notice.
