How hard is the thing to install??
I really want to do it myself, but if it means getting into the internals of the engine, ill just take it to a shop

Also, how much of a difference will it make?

Thanks yall

The only difference it will make is that it won't wear out and break like the old ones can on *some* bikes.

It's fairly straightforward to drop the oil pump, and look up in the hole, and see if your gear is worn. Bump the wheel in gear a few times to inspect the whole gear.

If the gear is not worn, but it back on (probably want a new oil pump gasket) and enjoy your bike.

If its badly worn, you have a "gear eater" of a bike, and it should be replaced.

That job is not hard per se, but its fairly involved if you do it right, you end up pulling both rocker boxes and then the cam cover. Not rocket science, but its a LOT of time and a lot of pieces off at one time.
