i'm planning out my swap to an R front end but keeping my S triple and bars. what's needed for the swap? i think i only need the following:

- R fairing stay
- R fairing + windscreen
- R lights

but what about the housing for the key? do i have to go with an R top triple? i don't want to.

anyone looking to swap parts and make their black R into a black S front fairing??

Ahhh, I see you have decided to make the switch. I am very interested in how this turns out as I am interested in making the same conversion.

Hey Shawn.. yeah, i've always loved the look of the R fairing on the S (lonexb's bike ruled) but now I want it even more for wind protection as well as the styling. overall i'm looking for better protection and ergos up front for highway and twisties. on the fence about some Crossroads clipons too. the ProTapers rock for city traffic but i've been avoiding any city riding like the plague.

probably will end up being a winter transformation 'cause the dirty bike is sucking all my money at the moment : )

Typeone, Steve_mackay just did something very similar to his TT with His Uly-Bolt conversion. he machined a Bracket to use the S switch in the R position. Search for it or PM him.

killer, thanks, i'll do a search.

i'm about to head down to the shop for a look at an R but i was thinking it must be possible to rig up a bracket to keep the key on the left since i wont need much up front regarding wiring, etc. not sure though.

There are a bunch of lightning-bolt owners on badweb so the info should be available, and even pics of them.

Diablo, thanks, i did some searching and found a few details and pics. you see more S->R tail swaps in the threads than the front but Steve's pics were great.
