Just got some SilverStar and was thinking of changing out the bulb to increase the lighting just a bit (before BMC comes up with a solution to fix the light housing issue).

So it turns out the front fairing and the light housing has to be removed to get to the bulb?! Is this turn or is there another way to access the bulb? The wires and all are all in the way for pulling off the bulb.

Anyway, want to hear from you guys to see how you have changed the headlight bulbs without removing bunch of components off the bike.

Thank you in advance.

Don't hold your breath on that one, they swept that under the carpet.

I dont know what your talking about. Changing the bulb takes 3 minutes at most from the back. Take another look at it again.

I don't know about the "R" bikes (Firebolts) but that seems to be the process for the "S" bikes (Lightnings). I was surprised at how difficult Buell made it to change the headlight bulbs! In my other bike it takes seconds and doesn't even require tools!

The bulbs come out in about a split second. Pull the rubber boot off the back of the lights, you will see a wire holding the bulb in, Just push the wire down and over and the bulb falls out. That's it, reverse the order for installation.

Exactly as stated above- remove rubber boot, unplug wires, release spring-loaded clip, bulb comes right out. No tools required, can probably be done in under a minute. I've even changed mine in a parking lot at night.

New12r/Spike: To clarify: you're talking about the Firebolts?

I guess you guys just force the bunches of wires out of the way before taking out the boot?

You dont need to force them, they should just move out of the way with gentle pressure.

Hmmm....

not exactly the case for me... The wires in separate bunches kinda presses on the boots in my case.

I will go try to move it once again.
