I am thinking of buying a select seat because I am tired of my butt hurting after an hour on my 9S. Is this seat worth the cost or should I spend my money on something else?

yes they are well worth the money. i have rode from ohio to deals gap a 7 and a half hour ride twice. the first time with the stock seat... ouch. second time with the select seat. my butt did not hurt at all. i could have kept on riding as long as i wanted.

I had a select seat I rode with for about a year. Swapped for a Corbin Gunslinger and I haven't regreted it. I ride more rural roads than city though. If I was still city riding I would prefer the Select. All depends on what you want the seat for. My .02, hope that helps.

I have the Gunfighter. Its not as cushy as the Select seat on my wifes 9 but it allows you to be able to move around on the seat more as the select seem's to hold you in. I like to be able to move easily. The gun fighter though is a huge improvement over stock though.

I've got a used Select Seat. I bought it new last summer. My winter project was switching to a Firebolt tail. So it is not needed.

New, according to Buell.com the seat is $200, minus 10% from most of the sponsors,$180. How's $160 plus shipping? If you are going to March Badness, I can bring it w/ me a save you the shipping....

I have heard that the 9SX seat is comfy, how is the select compared? Does it lower the seat height on the 9SX.

Toona,

Is the seat in good shape? Any wear and tear issues? I'm interested.

I really like my select seat. If you don't ride for very long distances, it may not be worth 200 bucks, but if your planning on a good riding day, it will be great.

The city seat is more cushy than the select.

I rode 850 miles in one day from Orlando, FL to Warrenton, VA on my Select seat. Gave very serious thought to riding the loop around Washington to get me the 1000 miles in 24 hours once I arrived at my destination, but an overzealous Virginia State Trooper curbed that idea.

I've got a Corbin Gunfighter and I agree with what has been previously posted. It's comfy enough to ride all day and lets you move around the saddle as needed too.

However, it's twice as expensive as the Select Seat. I'd take a hard look at Toona's seat. Sounds like just what you need.

Doughnut, yes, the CityX seat is about an inch taller than the Select seat. I think, even with my height, the Select seat is more comfy than the CityX seat.

I can't really say if the Select seat would be worth it to you but I know I like mine.

It's firm without being hard yet it's soft without being squishy. I know that probably doesn't make much sense but it's the closest way I can describe it.

If you live anywhere that has rain, stay away from the select seat. It channels the wet right down to your buns like a gutter. Seattle area rider, trust me on this one! That being said, the seat is off to the upholstry shop soon to be a true two up option for me. Again if you ride in the rain, step away from the select seat ....

Cityslicker - If you ride in the rain, stay away from the XB*S's...I have the CityX seat and I like it way better than the select and the water still goes straight to your butt. It also puddles in your crotch in front.

Ditto on the Corbin seat. They're pricing has gotten ridiculous though, so pick one up on Ebay. I got mine from a Badweb member for a great deal, here in the classifieds.

Its the puget sound, if you dont ride in the rain, then you aint riding! It can rain at a moments notice, and if you ride more than an hour away from home, it will most suredly rain on you if you forgot your rain gear. That gutter seat is off at the chop shop now.
