I was riding the other day when my bike, much to my surprise, just shut down. No electrical power what so ever...long story short, call a friend, loaded the bike in the truck and went home. I was looking at all the electrical today (the bike started right up) and I couldn't find any loose connections. My question is does anyone have any suggestions on WTF happen? I've checked the grounds, I've checked all the wiring under the front fairing, and the top of the engine...Stumped

This happened to me and I found that it was the battery terminal. It didn't feel loose by hand but it was in fact not making a good connection.

Mine didn't leave me stranded, but I did experience some rough running and an engine light. I finally traced it to the positive terminal on the battery. I locktited the hell out of it and haven't had any further problems. I'm sure it's going to be a joy to replace the battery sooner or later, but at least I won't get stranded for that particular problem.

Some of you guys that have had your bikes for a few years, how long did the battery last?

I think it was just he positive terminal, which is odd since it was tight with no corrosion. I loosened it and re tightened it and haven't had any problems yet. Talk about gremlins, geez!

I just had the same problem a few weeks ago. Put a washer in there, apply loctite to the threads and crank it down to about 15-17 ft-lbs of torque.

3 years is about what my XB batt lasted. When it began clicking while trying to start, that was my first clue the batt was about all used up, even with fairly regular Battery Tendering.
