Went out to shoot videos on the street today and other stuff. I found a way to rig a mount and found the right spare camera that I could live without. Got the mount done and then safety wired it in case the mount failed no one behind me would suffer.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the incident on video. I found running the camera with gloves on was about as distracting as what I hear talking on cell phones is. So I only filmed with no traffic around mostly and at reasonable speeds. The camera began to shutter at high speed. I need to check the bolts to see if anything wanted to work loose before I have full confidence. Will do that later.

Went to a nearby Kawa dealership to see about getting my inspection done. They couldn't do it but the service tech knew everything about Buell and keep pulling people over to explain all the tech on it. That was really cool. Went inside and talked to a downed rider who is in his second year of recovery and having a forth pain blocker put in his spine soon.

Had the inspection done at an auto body place - got great compliments from the tech and he wanted my advice on lane splitting....

Well, going back home on I-20 now. Having lots of cops out and an untested camera mount and some fresh stories about nerve damage, and well (hand to god) I was doing the posted which is 60mph.

Thought I had all my escape zones managed. Thought I was fully aware and completely in control. And suddenly out of my peripheral vision I see a gray car about 2 feet inside my lane. It had travelled into my lane and then stopped just in time to not hit me. Now all that I can really verify was there was a car door about a foot from my arm traveling at about 80, maybe 90? I never got a chance to retrace the details because my opportunity to go over the recollection never had a chance.

Out of her window I see her give the finger! So I jump up to 100mph which is what she is going now. I don't fault her for the speed but she was driving a little imprecisely so I was concerned. After the finger and me catching up to her, I notice now that she is very politely waiving out of her window. I decide to follow her and then when I come to a full stop get her plate on camera.

The entire drive after that she goes a little fast and keeps up the friendly waving. At this point I'm not noticing the politeness, but I'm still pretty pissed for almost getting clipped. She stops at a residence and I ask the neighbors who have children out if they recognize the car. They said they do and didn't appreciate how fast she came around the corner....

And I see her getting HER child out of the back of her car and she is still waiving me over again and again. I put the video on and pulled up to her car.

Ok, this is the killer part. She explains to me that a semi had rushed into her lane nearly killing her. She indeed had seen me and avoided me as well as she could. She gave the finger to the semi. One memory that I do remember after her putting her finger out was that there was a red semi that had been scary close to me at one point. I asked her what color the semi was and she confirmed that it was a red one.

Resolution for myself - never give someone the finger on the road because you might not have the full story. Even considering the road rage issue which I can outrun or outbrake.

Pictures to follow if I have time...

nice photos there keys, tho' I dont believe I have the slightest understanding of your narrative. Were you trying to make a point about checking the status of your luck on the day in question?
I had a friend once who used to say you never can tell if it's your lucky day unless you try something real stupid to test it. He is dead now, but for damn sure he did not leave any of his luck behind, unused.... Be safe OK? Dean

Sorry about the confusion.

Let me try a condensed version.

Still feeling shaky now.

Took Camera with me-
Did not use it-
Went speed limit-
Car nearly clipped me-
Semi nearly clipped me-
I was in my lane-
Someone gave me the finger-
I caught up and they explained that they were avoiding getting hit too-
I didn't do anything wrong, I don't think-

Trust me.. It was as confusing to live through as it was to try to write up.
thanks all

As far as I can tell there was nearly a 3 vehicle accident that almost happened. And it nearly found me. And I was following all the rules up to that point.
