I have had the opportunity to see a set of the Coretech Sport Tail and Saddlebags recently and was impressed with the quality and price. I seem to recall that several of you have them on Lightnings. What do you tie the bags to? Thanks, Keith | ||

The bags sling over your seat with adjustable velcro straps. The front of the bags clip onto your rear footpeg brackets. These bags are bigger, and much better quality than the stock Buell bags. Definitly a better value for your $$$. | ||

Keith, I rode from LA to Monterey/Laguna with a set of the sport saddlebags and they were great. I was riding a Speed Triple so I cannot comment on what they'd be like on a lightning but the bags themselves were well made, sturdy, with good capacity. They have fasteners on the front and back on each side. The front ones I attached to the passenger pegs like the pic above(tho the bags I got are smaller than in the above pics). The rear ones I attached to each other under the bikes tail. Unfortunately, the bike's Black Widow underseat exhaust fried them even tho I thought I'd figured out how to avoid that. Despite that, the bags held themselves in place perfectly on the front only(and with the big straps under the pillion seat). they never budged. I never felt like I was carrying any extra weight and if not for being able to just see them in my mirrors I never would have known they were there. | ||

If you're talking about these  - we're currently considering the Cortech sport version for the wife's CityX. Had a chance to try them out at a local Big 4 UJM dealer - the problem seems to be that the rear turn signals are in the way, preventing the bags from sitting back over the rear of the seat as they should. I figure the two options are to either relocate the turn signals (to the reflector brackets off the cheese grater) or to swap out the tail light for the integrated LED tail light and loose the turn signals all together. I'm going to try the relocation first, cause it's cheaper and easier. The bags are nice and look good on the bike. Cheers -Jack | ||

I have them on my Ss. They work great although they push the rear turn signals forward a bit or are too far forward. I would expect that to be worse on a non-long. Fully loaded on a long trip (SF to San Diego and back), I was pushed a bit forward and it made the ride position really cramped so that I had to stop at least every two hours. The other issue is that the foam pads that ride against the bike left black marks on the seat supports, not sure if the paint is worn off or the rubber is deposited. Either way, sewing some material over the pads would probably solve this. Good point is that the saddles and tail can be easily removed together at stopovers. | ||

Jack - I've removed the cheese grater and turn signals  and have an integrated tail light/turn signal on the way from American Sport Bike. My concern is this: can the bags be slid far enough aft so that you don't end up sitting on straps (see above) or that it cramps the riding position. Thanks for the response everyone! Keith | ||

Put the straps under the seat. Jack, I made turn signal relocators for my Firebolt from a piece of sheet metal about 1 x 3 inches with appropriate mounting holes. Works great. Sparky | ||

To make room for the rear turnsignals, I needed to mount the bags backwards on my Ss. I put the tailbag on forward. I, too, rode with these from Santa Barbara to Laguna Seca and never had any problem whatsoever.... Lee | ||

Sparky, Shinobi13, and 1stxb - I have the XB9S and its rear seat is almost non-existant compared to the R version. I can see how the turn signals could cause a problem and I have eliminated that. Does anyone know if the bags will sit on the stock XB S rear seat and not cause any problems for the rider and be stable? 1stxb - I remember that link! Thanks for your responses. Here is a pic of them on my Firebolt. They are pretty far forward in this pic (first day I used them). The next day I got them mounted about 4" farther back so the front strap was just behind the front seat. I'm very impressed with the quality of the bags and surprised how much you can stuff in them.  | ||

Yes they are. I don't know if I'd go any bigger without removing the rear turn signals. | ||
