What should I expect to pay for 1000mile service for a 2005 xb12r? I will go with the synthetics aswell. Also What is the "best" Harley dealer to go to in the San Clemente Oceanside area or close to it?

You'll have to go to San Diego or Temecula to get that service done. Don't bother going to California Harley.

Can't remember how much I paid but its always too much.

I just had mine done, I paid a "discounted" $300+tax...

They wanted $374 for syn3 1k service.

They gave me a discount because their only Buell tech went home early with an injury, but they made it up by coming in on the 4th (they were closesd), and giving me a discount.

I called around all of the local Seattle dealers (3 of them) wanted $350+

Dang, now I'm glad I did mine myself.

Monkey, we should hook up for a ride sometime. Did you go to the dealer in Lynwood? I was thinking of buying a few items from them but I don't know how their service is.

Sorry to hijack, btw. I've got to work on that.

I did mine myself. Bought all the supplies from Daves (sponsor) and used my MacGiver skills to do everything.

By macgiver I mean my lack of a drain pan, or even a bucket. I had to take a shoe box and line it with bags... It was a funny thing to see.

Do everything yourself, you won't be sorry. It's very very simple. Even the mechanically challenged can do it. If you need the steps of anything to do it (if you don't have a service manual) I can scan the pages for you to print out and reference.

Note- only thing you need the dealership for is the TPS reset. and even then you don't neccessarily need them - maybe someone in your area has the software and the time to lend you a hand.

Samiam, I don't like Cyclebarn. I have never had anything done there, but when I was shopping Buell's they were not interested in selling me one, so I am not interested in giving them service $...

I like Downtown HD. They are starting a Brag group (sometime before the next coming of Christ...)

Don't ask me about Bellevue HD...
FYI Buells do not belong in a storage closet...

Corporatemonkey, thanks for the info. I'll definitely keep that in mind when I'm deciding who to give my money to.

Keeping on topic, doing everything myself was awesome, you could say it was a learning experience. Definitely helped build confidence in being able to work on my bike myself. Now if only I could get my directlink working so I can do the TPS report--er reset, reset is what I meant.

Sam

You forgot to put the cover sheet on your TPS reset.

I have had nothing but good experiences with Downtown. Most people do not know that they are the largest Buell dealer in the US by sales.

They have a good buell tech, and the sales staff actually like Buell.

Hell Steve (sales) has a really cool 'bolt.

The buell tech races his locally.
The goodies, like ridiculously cheap oil changes, and free haircuts just sweeten the deal.

Funny timing, today I received a nice hand signed card thanking me for my business.

ya i got one of those too...my expierience was...weird at best....they couldnt warranty a burnt out head light bulb that happend the second day i had the bike it took them 3 weeks to install the race kit...when i took it to silverdale to have the 1000 mile done i was told they stripped a plug..i never was offered my stock parts back.... they did pick my bike up ..twice..for free and delivered it....but when i bought the bike i waited for ever to get waited on...then when i picked it up i waited for 3 hours not including the paper work....was just an all around bad time for me...they guy that delivered the bike was really cool and service was helpful...most of the time...i guess we have it pretty good compared to most from what ive read though.....i am just more comfortable at silverdale and its closer....ya i met the guy that races the buell he was cool was actually one of the reasons i ended up buying one....hey if u ever wanna ride lemme know..

Kyle your downtown is a little different than our downtown. Yours has an autobahn. The only thing that kinda sucks for me to go downtown is the hour or so ride to get there, and that's mostly because of the *&%#! slow Whidbey drivers. That's gotta be the one reason why I don't get to Seattle that much.

Last time I was downtown... was right after Germany won a world cup game. Let me tell you... Attractive women - clothes + body paint = brine being glad he has a mirrored visor and the race kit - that way she couldn't see me stare of hear me scream to myself!

Sam - bah... the autobahn is boring. Well, exciting the first time.. but boring after that. Anybody can go fast... especially soccer moms in their Audi's : ).

Johannis Kruez is where it's at.

The dealer I bought my 12S from was another bad one, my father had bought a few harleys from them so I figured that I would get a good deal and on paper I did but they pulled the wool over my eyes and sliped in an extra year of warrenty that I didnt want for the tune of like 700 bucks. I didnt realise it untill I had gotten home with the bike and everything was signed. I was bent. Then not realy thinking I take it back for the 1000 miles service thinking that "they know what to look for" and then I go to pick it up with a bill for $305 for just a syn oil change and 2 hours of labor. they bill wasn't broken down into what they have done so I have no idea what I payed 2 hours for. Never again I have since written them off and travel farther to a better dealer and my original one has dropped buell since.
