Was curious what a 5000 mile service will set me back? I have done the fluid change and set the primary chain tension myself. Dont recall off hand what else they do at 5k, I know they do a TPS reset.

Thanx J

Checklist is in the back of your owners manual for each of the service points.

Expect to pay $350 ish at the dealership.

I'm only out about $100 in doing it myself (bought a torque wrench with half of that). Almost done. And if "I" can do it, any and every single one of you can. Do get a service manual though. It spells things out in pretty much laymens terms.

If you've done the fluids and primary the rest of the service is a breeze, basically just inspecting and checking for wear. The service manual is worth every penny.

A TPS reset isn't required at 5k but of course you could take the bike into the shop and ask them to do it. It's a whole lot cheaper than a 5k service.

All depends on the hourly shop rate. Here on Long Island I paid $234.53 for a 5,000 mile service. That includes labor, parts and tax (8.5%).

I'm about due for my 10k service. I'll be paying $201 and only taking it in because I want my TPS done and the fork oil changed. I think allowing the Buell tech to change the fork oil is worth every bit of $200. NUTS

I was thinking the 5000 mile service had a TPS reset. Guess I was thinking about the 10,000 mile service. I may take it in and have them do a TPS reset as I am having some performance problems.
