How long will a Buell motor go for? I am looking at a Buell XB9 lighting with 24000 miles. he is wanting 4000 for it. i am hesitante to spend that much on a bike with high miles....i do not know if the motor starts getting into problems with somewhat high miles. I'd pass....you could find a xb9s with 2-3,000 miles for around $5,000 or $6,000 |

The xb9 motor should last a lot longer than 24k as long as it was maintained properly. |

$4000.00 is bit steep for that kind of milage. The NADA book has the wholesale at about $3900 for 2003 that is excellent condition. They average retail at about $5.000. I would have to make an offer of about $3500.00 if I was interested in the bike. (Message edited by bcordb3 on June 05, 2006) |

The $4,000 might be fair for that 24,000 mile bike where it might not be for a similar 4,000 mile bike all depending on condition, maint., use, abuse, so forth. Impossible to say without knowing more. It might have another 50,000 miles in it before needing any major work, or it might have less. Get it mechanically checked over, compression/leakdown tests, and so on if you're uncertain about it. |

for a mech. test i know it would be prudent to take it to a Buell dealer, but i do not have one close by. should i look at an HD dealer, or something like a mech. shop for every bike? the thing about the bike that scares me is it has a sticker on the swingarm that says Stunters.com....that is when i become hesitant |

Larry, I have a firebolt XB9R for sale in Austin with less than 5k on it. Check it in the classifieds. |

Stunters.com?? I would stay away from it. There are way better deals out there. |

RUN AWAY! That "stunters" thing would spook me too. You might use it as a lever in haggling. Ditto on leak-down testing. Burned/Bent valves, rings, etc. Ask for receipts. If the guy is anal-retentive enough to keep receipts, it is probably a safe bet that he took pretty good care of it. |

I don't know how much Captain wants for his xb9r, but it's a beaut. |
