Rode it to let ecu adjust... worked for cple days then wont idle and runs really rough, havnt mapped it yet. Y is it all a sudden runnin bad? Hear talk about a muffler servo that i shoulda removed as well? and hear pple talking about havin there jardine pop and run rough basically after the mapping, the cycle shop i go to doesnt have a dyno and are just going to hook it to a computer is this something i shold be concerned with? Should i need to look twords a techlusion dfi unit to get this thing tuned properly, will it make a difference or can they tune my race ecm good enough? need some major help with these thoughts thanks guys

did you get the TPS reset after installing the Race ECM? if you haven't, you need to as a first step.

Did anyone mention to you about having the TPS reset. If you dont do that it will never run right, has to be done at the dealership. A good tech should only take 10 minutes, and like 20-30 bucks is fair.

Give Al a call at American Sport bike or Dave at Appleton HD. They are both listed here under the sponsor section in this site. They can get you the software to do the TPS reset yourself. It will be about the cost of what the HD dealership trys to rape you for in Labor and you will have the ability to do the diagnostics. There is nothing exotic about the TPS reset but it has to be done and why not by you than being at the mercy of the Dealer ship. They are right its takes about 10-20 minutes total.....my HD dealer wanted 2 hours.....ahhhh.....NOT

remapping the ECM and resetting the TPS (throttle position sensor) after you upgrade to a Race ECM are two different processes.

sorry if you already realize this.. . just making sure you know.

don't waste your money on the air box conversion... go down to your local hardware shop... purchase a bolt, washer and a wing nut... cut out the base and the lid for your air filter conversion from the stock air filter box... drill hole in between the censor and the rubber air funnel just big enough to screw the bolt in the base and the lid... then ream out the hole on the air filter lid just a little bit so the lid slides on snug. place on washer and wing nut...$$$ it costs less than a dollar! also looks killer on the XB9SX...

Not the blue hose, the snorkel in the frame. Removing it creates a larger space for more air to flow thru.

the air box base also keeps some engine heat out of your intake air.
I covered the under-side with aluminum tape to help keep it even cooler.

I also had a heat shield from the under side of the fuel tank of
an old project bike. I cut it to fit under my seat.
I don't like roasted nuts!;)

oh that thing... i moved my idler adjuster into the air scoop to have easy access to it before i did this mod... i drilled a hole in the bottom side of the snorkel and zip tied the idle adjuster to it... i just trimmed off the piece that connected it to the tray... i think i have plenty of air flow now even with the snorkel still in its place... it runs much smoother at high rpm now! i might take your advice of putting some insulation tape down... thanks! next stage for my xb... blue header wrap!!!

heres a ?. droppin the xb off tommarow, my jardine's on race ecm will be in and open airbox kits going on, my fu*^ing k&N has been on order for 2.5 weeks and is supposivly in any day... there going to tune my bike with stock air filter and then when it comes in I can just pop it on. One thing im worried about is that they have no dyno at this shop, they are verry experienced with choppers and HD;s and really good but no dyno, I guess they just hook it up to the computer and said they will get it perfect? hows this all sound to you guys? And.... if i throw the k&N on after its all mapped am i gonna have to have it all remapped or tps reset again?
