I hated my mirrors. So I took them off. Now I can't see behind me (I actually get passed every now and then). I dont like bar end mirrors, so I thought I was screwed. Then I found this:

Ooh.. I think I like that, as long as it wasn't too obtrusive.
An autodim feature for night time would definitely be prudent for something like that, which means it would need power.

Yeah, I think that would take some getting used to.....alot of time.

Maybe you could modify a bicycle helmet mirror for use on your current helmet.

I like that and don't think I'd have a difficult time adjusting. I was hoping it was a retro fit not a whole helmet. My R's mirrors mess up the clean lines of the bike, and my wife's bar-end mirrors take effort to use. I'd love to demo on of these somewhere.

I just need to see where my friends are, and if that is a car rack on the roof behind me or something . . . different.

99buellx1, You forgot to add that if you are going to use a bicycle helmet mirror you MUST use white or scotch tape to hold on the temple piece of your glasses...............

Might even be able to distinguish if you have a cop coming up behind you. Definitely wouldn't be shaking like the stock ones on my handlebars. I like it.

I think the guys who drive black cars with white doors won't buy the idea of having your mirror in your helmet. I am sure the Motor vehicle codes define mirrors have to be attached to the motorcycle.

I could be wrong, don't flame!

WOW-that is different. Is it a series of mirrors or is it a camera?

If you are looking for clean lines and nice looks on a mirror, Trojan has some real slick ones that are small and tear drop shaped, they give a good view, and they look GREAT. They really accentuate the lines of the Lightning. Folks must really like the looks of em-my first pair was stolen right off the bike in my garage!

that would be wierd, to see what is behind you on your right, you would have to look to the left
that would take some getting used too
then if the sun was behind you, man, seems cool till you think about it

Pupu, It's a mirror not a video. What's on the right is still on the right. etc.

Old_man, what I think Pupu was saying is to point the mirror to your right side you would have to turn your head to the left, and he is correct.

Looking down at your passenger might be kind of sweet depending on how far you can see down her shirt. It would take some getting used to, but I think it would be pretty sweet.

I wonder if she could see your eyes whilst looking at the back of your helmet. That would be a bit weird, too.

Looking down her shirt=staring. I'd run into something, or someone, I'll stick with my elbow's. Less of course they want to let me sample one!

I misunderstood what Pupu was saying, I hadn't even thought of that myself. good point, but like driving on The left In Britain, I think you would soon get used to it.

I just received the following from the manufacturer:

"Hi Greg

Due to the huge demand created here in Europe, we do not have distribution in the USA yet. We are going through the preliminary tests for the DOT and Snell and should have the full certification this year. We will then be able to put distribution in place and introduce the helmets into the US market.

Until we have the DOT the helmets can not be shipped into the USA.

They retail for around 399 Euros in Europe, we hope that it will cost no more than $400 when it lands in the States but due to local taxes etc, will not know an exact price.

We do not sell direct, but I can tell you that there is to be an online solution in the coming months when the helmets have full certification. We have a mailing list for this and also to keep you updated of when the helmets are available in your country.

I will keep you posted once I have news.

Nicola"

I want one!

I found an overseas supplier. My grandmother is Japanese, so I'm gonna have her call and make sure it's a legit company. I can have them sent to relatives in Japan and then have my uncle FedEx them to me. Then all you need is a little DOT sticker. I've seen those everywhere at biker shops. Tah-Dah! DOT approved! Lol, so it may fall into the grey area of "legal vs illegal" but its still safer than those lids that chopper riders wear. I think I was sold on the idea the second I saw it.

You think so Redbull? I am curious to see how much of a shock the helmet will take in the dot tests before the tummy gets to walk away with mirror shards in his head....it's worth the wait to see what the tests say....my 2cents....

your right...quote from their web page..."The mirror system is manufactured from a reflective polycarbonate material rather than glass. Unlike glass, this material is almost impossible to break and is lighter, providing additional safety and comfort to the wearer."
