My Firebolt stalled out at work yesterday and from what everyone is telling me it seems it could be the battery. I checked the connections and found no signs of corrosion, or loose connections. The bike had just shown no sign of life all of a sudden, but now there's power to everything. The bike was slow to turn over which is a pure sign of not enough battery power, but now that problem has ceased. Is a bad battery supposed to function this way, or should it just get weaker and weaker until it dies?

You should be able to have the battery tested for free at a local MC shop. Guessing you have the original battery (I do too), so it's not out of the realm of possibility. That said, my original battery has outlasted 2 Voltage Regulators and one Stator.

(Same battery as the 2002 VROD in case you don't have a Buell Dealer close)

Get a voltage tested and see what the battery's voltage is. It should be somewhere around 12.86 volts I think.

Now, when the bike is running it should be 14 volts at 3600 RPM.

Lets cut the "BUELLschitte" !!!

Get a NEW BATTERY every two years ...

Due your electrical system a favor ...

Put on a TRICKLE CHARGER when not riding ...

You will never be on the side of the road
with a DEAD BATTERY, "PLUS" "i" do not have those phantom electrical problems !!!

Works for me, still have the original
alternator/voltage regulator and have 88k on the odometer ...
