Has anyone just removed the frame snorkel(rubber tube that goes up into the airbox)on a stock xb12(stock air filter) and noticed any difference in the way the bike runs? Also, with it out, does more dirt and moisture get into the airbox? why is it there in the first place?

It is nothing but an EPA thing. Take it out whether you have a pipe and K&N or not. You probably won't feel a noticable difference, but it is just a silly OEM thing.

That tube reduces the amount of intake noise coming out of your bike, and slightly reduces air flow into the airbox.
It's one of the first things to disappear from nearly all XBs.

When I first got my bike I yanked the snorkel and got a K&N - and those two changes made a noticeable difference.
