Hi ya all!
Just wondered what sort of range the firebolt owners are getting out of their fuel tank. I'm still trying to figure out exactly how far I can travel on my bike, including reserve. It seems to have quite a large reserve as I have yet to run it dry...not that I'm trying, more trying to avoid it really.
Done a search and found an old thread (jan 04) that seems to indicate somewhere around 30 miles for reserve. Any info out there?

For me if I hit reserve I better know where I'm getting fuel at within the next 20 to 25 miles. The most I have run on reserve is 34 miles and I put in 3.6 gallons when I filled up. I don't cut it that close as a norm.

On long trips I always plan fuel stops within 120 to 125 miles. I play it conservative, to keep from pushing the bike.

142 miles to reserve- light comes on @ 2.7 gallons used- Mostly highway driving @ 70-75 mph.

I havent tried to test the reserve yet so I cant be of much help on that note..

Personally I go 100 miles and then I start to keep my eyes open for a station. That way I know I have LOTS of room for error. However I have gone as far as 130 miles before the light came on. I have also gone as few as 90 miles when it came on. It all depends on how hard you ride. Also, I have gone as many as 50 miles on reserve, being very easy on the throttle and keeping under 3000rpm. At that fuel stop I put in the most fuel ever, 3.5 gallons.

XB9R, stock ECU, stock muffler: no more than 40 miles after reserve light - any more and I am pushing (don't ask me how I know...).

Thanks guys. I'm getting some idea with all the riding lately (about 1100 miles over the past weekend) about the variation I get. So far I have had the reserve kick in at between 115 and 140 miles: the last one was just a day ago...I think it must be getting more economical as i ride it. Up to about 7000kms (4500 miles i think) now, damn i am loving it!

around town, local short trip, i fill up very frequently, seldom run over 100 miles on a tank close to home. on a road trip, hauling down the hiway, i can go 160 miles.
