Been looking at the CORBIN seat for an xb12r for quite sometime now but have been gun shy to pull the trigger yet. I contacted CORBIN to find out the price and availability and it's not a problem. If I bought what they have in stock the carbon fiber imprint, black in color I'm looking at $239 and $10 for shipping. Th advantage that they stated was that if I purchase it directly from them and not a distributor, they can make minor mods to it if I am unsatisfied with the product. (I.E. sliding forward towards the gas tank, installing more padding, etc.) If I purchase something custom from them it's the same price and the turnaround time is 3-4 weeks. Is the seat worth it over the BUELL upgrade or should I splurge and buy the CORBIN? If you own one what's it like? Is like owning Charmin toilet paper two ply with quilts versus ballpark one ply sandpaper where your finger breaks through to tickle yourself? Just an analogy!

I've got one on my xb9r. It's a different seat, that's for sure. It's not as soft as the factory seat (which surprised me) but it does a much better job of fitting to your butt (hehe...). The factory seat seems to put all of the support on the inseam. The Corbin is transfers your weight to the entire area of the seat. The only odd thing is that it kind of cuts into your inner thighs when you put your feet down, but you get used to that.

I actually have an aftermarket Buells seat on my 12R. I special oredered it from California HD, took about a week to get it and it costed $130. It is far more comfortable than the stock seat, and and doesnt let you slide forward like the stock seat. Its black and has a small pegasus log on both sides. They also make an after market pillion seat which is also outstanding. My wife loves it, and it creates a little "hub" for your butt so you dont slide far back on the rider seat. These two seats maybe just what your looking for, or at least the riders seat.

I have one on my 9r but don't have enough miles on it to give a valid review. I got mine from America Sport Bike. Al does a good job of inspecting the seats before shipping.

I have had a corbin seat for one year now and dont care for it. It is good for about 20 minutes longer than the stock seat but restricts movement from side to side when going through corners. I sent my stock seat to butt buffers and it is ten times better.

I love my Corbin, it's far better than anything else I've ever sat on, and it makes my 12R an awesome multi-hour ride.

But they apparently give poor Al at American Sport Bike a hard time on a regular basis, just like everybody else, and he's actually moving some volume. I ordered what is supposed to be Corbin's 'in stock' configuration, same carbon look and all. Al emailed to say that he'd ordered another unit the week before, expected it to arrive any day, and that he'd send that one to me ASAP. I had a long ride planned and wanted a better seat for it. I'd heard some stories about Corbins needing break-in, but figured if it happened to me, I'd deal.

Three weeks later & with only a couple days left before the ride, I cancelled the order- just an hour or so before Al emailed again to ask, "guess what the UPS guy just brought?" He then offered to split the cost of two-day shipping.

The moral of the story? I wouldn't deal direct with Corbin if they offered to fly me to SoCal and introduce me to Michelle Smith! My advice is, buy it through American Sport Bike, do any minor mods yourself (mine is still not bolted in place, but it doesn't affect how it sits,) and let American Sport Bike handle dealing with Corbin. You'll probably be WAAAY happier- I am.

Looks like they modify the seat by installing a special type of pad inside it. Or you can buy one that goes on the outside. I'm thinking I'd go with the interior installation.

www.buttbuffer.com

btw, I found it by googling motorcycle seat butt buffer.

crobin makes a very nice XB saddle. good for thousand mile days. I would not ride out of town without a corbin saddle.

Crillyiv is right on the money. they take the stock seat take a little foam out and replace it with gel. Done a couple of 400 mile days with it and report no monkey butt. With the corbin I couldnt get through a tank of gas. On the other hand I talked to corbin and they told to send their seat back and they would put a different foam in it.
