I brought my bike in for the 1600 km (1000 mile) servicing yesterday, and I doubt I'll do that again. Total was $242 for an oil and filter change, tranny fluid change and other assorted adjustments. 2.5 hours labor at $65 an hour nearly made me barf!!
I found it interesting how complicated zeroing thew TPS was. Or maybe it wasn't that complicated, just the tech was unfamiliar with Buells.
Anyway, I'll be doing all the maintenance from now on. It was still somewhat of a productive visit as the tech showed me some tips on checking the primary chain, as well as other little things to keep my eyes on.
On a more positive note, I met Hogs there. He seems to be a wealth of knowledge and his mod on the air box on his 'Bolt was very interesting.
What kind of oil are most guys using out there? I'm a huge fan of dyno-oil and I am interested in exploring other brands other than HD. I've always ran Castrol 20-50 bike oil in all the other bikes I've ever owned and I'm wondering if that is a viable option?

Castrol is a good oil. I've used Castrol syntec 20-50 and M1 synth 20-50 V-Twin. I like both.

M1 75-90 gear oil in the trans though...

Say hi to that old fart Hogs for me and tell him I traded my XB9 for a XB12SS. I'll have a complete review in a few weeks after I get some miles on it.

Never had the TPS reset on my xb12r at 18,000 miles now and still runs great.

My opinion is that unless something wears in the throttle body, or you change the ECM, better to just leave it alone.

BTW, I do all my own maintenance and use SYN3 at 2500 mile intervals with the Buell filter...

I use Amsoil 20/50 in everything. My Harley, both Buells, my Hayabusa, too. Makes it easy.
