Way to go Martin...

However, I am wondering if Buell won't come out with a new EFI in '06...different bore and stroke bikes with more displacement...would prefer to keep fixin' up my current ride, but I know I will tempted if they come up with some bigger displacement short strokes...Hope the engines will fit into my current XB...might just swap out the engines and keep the bike...like part of the adopted family.

Anyway, keep us posted on your project, Martin. Looks interesting...Cyko Bob

best bit of all is that it fits inside the existing airbox cover so nobody knows it's there.

I'm not after horsepower, though with more total throttle area that might be a possibility, rather low-to-midrange throttle progression from higher gas-speed. It does have that welded pro-stock tunnel-ram look, though, which I like.

"I'm not after horsepower," yes you are, your just in denial, do not seek help, no 12 step programs available.

Martin,
Is that a stock unit or something you created? Give me more details as I have a hotrod Buell and would be interested in upgrading the injection.

Steve

I was never really happy with some aspects of the injection on my '03 9R and I liked the look of the race bikes with the twin stacks. A company in the uk called Jenvey produces a range of throttle bodies in various configurations. They do one only 30mm thick and also a Weber DCNF replacement that had the closest centre-to-centre measurement. I chose the latter for packaging reasons, since my experiments with cardboard tubes and much cutting and shutting showed the difficulties in getting a good flow-path if the injectors were placed across the frame rather than in the fore-and aft plane they ended-up in.I think that that is why the race bike set-up has a slght stagger and unequal trumpets. A friend of mine runs Black Dog Race Engineering in the UK and he machined-up some inlet tubes which were welded to the cut-off base of the standard manifold (which had the advantage of retaining the important compound angle between the inlet port stubs). An angled cut on the joining face fitted-up to a dividing wall and gave a diminishing area into the port. The dividing wall extended down into the 'old' part of the manifold and the 'bowl' was shaped with Devcon.
I have found some injectors that give 10% more flow just in case but am awaiting the first dyno runs to see if they are needed.
I chose to modify the bike simply because it is now worth so little and because it interested-me as a more straightforward alternative to the turbo I was working on over the winter.
