Bought one from a fellow BadWeather member - had to shave the rubber mount points, in the rear, down so that I could get the latch to lock. Really improved the feeling of stability on my XB9SX - feels like the front end isn't nearly as shaky at highway speeds. I highly recommend it to other SX owners.

I've been thinking about the Corbin for my XB9s for some time now. Currently, I have the Buell Streetfighter seat which is a vast improvement over stock. However, I still want a Corbin. I've heard that it takes a little while to break-in the Corbin? Any thought on that? Did the prior owner already have it on long enough?

Their is a high and low version of that seat. I was comparing my seat purchased from Corbin to a friends Corbin seat bought from a American Sportbike. His seat was lower compared to mine. His seat also had a different cover. It was smooth on the passenger seat and the fabric was cut in a different design. It looked nice.

I have about 3500 miles on my Corbin and it still isn't broken in all the way. The Corbins I have had on other bikes sometimes took up to 5K to fit my butt right. I also had to modify the seat to get it to latch, but I just used some washers under the loop that is screwed to the bottom of the seat.

Mine is great. Took about 1500 miles to break in. I keep the seat treated and soft, which may have helped speed break-in!

im the guy with the lower corbin seat. they only make it for american sport bike. i chose the lower one so i could carry my girl on the back. with the taller seat, the passenger would slide off the back. she says its much more comfortable than the stock seat. my seat doesnt seem to need to be broke in, it fit my butt perfect, its like a couch compared to the stocker. i could ride for days now.

I just ordered a seat, for my xb9s, directly from corbin. Basically, they will make it any way you want.

http://www.corbin.com/material/textured.shtml

I had them make it stock height, with Cobra textured leather, black on black flame design on the rear, and had the very front narrowed slightly.

Corbin does all the custom for FREE. $219 is not a bad price, they say i'll have it in 2 weeks.

Since I am only 5'7", I am looking for the lowest seat I can get. Would the Buell low seat be lower?

Streetdemon,

I was at Valley motorsports picking up some turn signals. They had some mirrors like you were describing. Did you happen to see them on the rack?

When you say Corbin low seat, do you mean it's actually shaved down so it's lower or are you talking about the one with the shaved down passenger pillion area? I've seen the two on Al's site & they look like the riding height is the same to me. I could be wrong, maybe Al will chime in & set me straight.
Bikertrash05, I think the Buell low seat would give your legs the most reach. It's about 3/4 of an inch shorter than the regular seat. The Corbin is a tad lower than the regular seat from what I heard but it's wider thus making it a longer reach to the ground. If you can get all or most of your feet down flat on the regular S seat, you'd probably be on the balls of your feet with the Corbin unless you had it custom made. I'm between 5'7 & 5'8 & I could flat foot a regular S just fine but I chose to get a low model just so I could still flatfoot it if I decided to get a different seat.

Well, I am almost on the balls of my feet on a stock SX. If the Buell low seat isn't enough, I can always put the SCG suspension on.
BTW, I am hopefully finalizing the sale of my V-Rod tomorrow, and getting a new SX!

the corbin low seat is only the passenger area. the rider is the same.the corbin is wider so it makes it seem taller. i could flat foot the stocker but the new seat im on the balls of my feet. but i HIGHLY recommend the corbin seat because its 100x more comfy than any of the stock seats. it makes me want to ride for hours.

The American Sportbike Corbin seat can be ordered in one of 2 ways. One is the standard way you would get if you ordered directly from Corbin. The other is less bulbous where a passenger would sit but it isnt quite like their gunfighter + Lady seats. The Corbin direct one has a pretty high pillion section with a 5" high wall to lock the rider in place. It works really great on with the torgue of a Buell to prevent you from sliding backwords. Even tho it is a single seat, it is more like the Firebolt 2 piece seat/pillion. It is also 1" lower. As I am only 5'6" with a 29" inseam, this was a great upgrade for me.
When I first got mine, I found that the 2 rear rubber mounts would not allow it to lock into place. After looking at if for a while, I decided that I was going to just drill out the rivets and then VOILA!!! It fit perfectly. The shape looks great on the CityX. Just in case anyone is wondering, I have the Buell saddlebags and they fit fine with the Corbin Seat.

I have the Corbin also...the standard one...not cut down for a passenger...don't carry passengers on my sport bikes.

Anyway, besides the stock seat (2003 XB9S) I have the low seat and the Corbin. The Corbin is the winner hands down. I like the way it holds me in place better than the stock seats. I am short too (5/7) and was afraid to get off of the low seat, but I am doing fine with it.

I highly recommend the Corbin seat for the Buell Lightning.

The Corbin seat for the XB-S has about the same seat height as the stocker, but it is a different shape. From the side, the stocker is crowned in the middle, the corbin is dished. The Corbin is effectively wider, so those with shorter legs may perceive that they have a harder time reaching the ground on the Corbin. We've had them built with the edges of the seat cup softened a bit to help with that for shorter riders.

As has been said here, the difference between the American Sport Bike low rear and the standard rear is only in the back section. The rider seat cup is identical.

They never sit down in the rear when new. The rubber bumpers need to be trimmed with a razor blade to the right height. It is trivial to do, but it guarantees a good fit. I don't recommend removing the rear bumper altogether, it is better to trim it to the right height. If you do it perfectly, the seat will latch with a fist bonk to the rear of the seat. And when you turn the key to release it, it will pop up with a nice click, which is much nicer than the stock setup with no feedback at all when you turn the key.

I guess my opinion is not objective since I sell the things, but the corbin seat is the only way to go on the XB-S model, no doubt in my mind. ALL of the Buell seats use the same seat pan, and that seat pan just sucks. No amount of foam shaping on top of a poorly shaped seat pan is gonna make it better.

Even with my rear rubber bumpers removed, I still have to bonk it. I dont think I could have trimmed them enough to make it latch. I didnt have the option of putting washers under the bar that gets latched as mine was riveted on

This is fine by me. It fits on my bike perfect and I think it fits me perfect.

Streetdemon,

Valley Motorsports is in Ansonia by the Shell gas station on Main st. When I was picking up my turn signals, I asked him if he had any Buell parts. The sales guy said he ordered some brake pads for a Buell. I thought it might be you, guess not. He has some mirrors on the display rack that fit what you described at Danbury H-D Buell last Thursday night.
