Hey guys the local shop here in town is installing a set of metzelers on my 2004 slightly
modified XB12s. My buddy that owns the shop would like to know the inside scoop on torque specs and alignment. I trust this guy he is a independent parts dealer that sold me my first race bike 10 years ago and the rest was history. So please give me the all necessary details thanks. JCWise.

Which Metzlers? The Z6's would not be a bad choice for an xb12 that sees a lot of sport touring duty.

There is no alignment, you have that idler pulley zero lash drive setup, so there are no rear wheel chain / belt tension adjusters to get wrong. Just bolt it together, its a very cool and easy to setup system.

I know I got sick of going side to side with calipers on my Cyclone and Yamaha every time I pulled a back wheel off... get the tension right, then get the alignment right, then the freeplay is wrong, and you go back and forth until it is right.

One important thing to tell him is that the belt is very sensitive to mishandling. Don't bend it backwards, or into a curve any tighter then the rear pulley.

Don't know the torque specs offhand. Tell him to use anti-sieze on the axle while he has it out, more then one person has broken them trying to get them back out later.

And don't miss the fact that the front axle has reverse threads. Look at the arrow on the fork.
