okay heres one more TFI Thread to add to the books...heres what i got: 9r k&n,modified jardine,TFI, 12 airbox, removed snorkel... orginal pot settings (told from dobeck) are 3:30/8/5/7:30 now the bikes running good except i have heavy poppin on deacerealation, and every once and awhile i get a cough through whats seems to be the throttle body?? which i used to get before all the mods and thought it was from being lean.....anyone else have a simalir setup..and does is anyone else gettin this cough..

i put a a/f meters on tonight real quick which confuses the crap outta me but at idle to like 5,000 its at 1.80-2.0 after 5,000 it goes to around .80 any thoughts????

I've heard others say to move the last pot up to between 8 and 8:30. I have the D&D with the K&N, Cut 12 box, open airbox cover, and the TFI. I put the last pot to somewhere around 8:30, and it's running good. It pops less on decel now than it did on the stock settings. Had two coughs through the throttle body before the move to past 8. Still working on it as I get a chance to ride (girlfriend has "plans"(No consideration to the beautiful significant other in my garage) for us every friggin weekend!!) After two weekends of 150 mile or better runs, the only problem I have to work out is the slight stutter on constant speed runs, about 4K. It sometimes stutters, but as I tweak things, it gets better. Only thing that I think will make everything good is a Dyno run.

Well personally, I think the popping is the nature of the beast with a low back-pressure pipe like the Jardine. If you have ever seen the Formula Extreme Buells race, they sound a lot like the Jardine-just louder yet.

Until you have either plotted AF with a guage, or a dyno run, you won't know the whole picture, but your spark plugs should give you a cross check on mixture. The Buell service manual gives some examples on plug readings.

BTW, I am running close to base TFI settings. Mods on my 12r are: Stock ECM, servo eliminator circuit, cut down airbox, snorkle cut down to a stub, race filter, CA cannister removed, TFI, heat foil on base of airbox, NGK DCPR9EIX Iridium plugs (one heat range colder than stock).

Riderx - If your lambda is truly 1.8 - 2 then you are extremely lean. My 9 never gets that lean except on very hard deceleration and even then it's only for a very short period. I don't know what type of O2 sensor you are using or lambda meter, but I'm suspicious of those readings, especially with your TFI settings.

The evidence so far is that the 12s and 9s run VERY differently with the TFI, so use your own judgment when comparing the two.

Go to www.patmedia.net/haynesfam and click on the link at the bottom of the page to see my runs. I still have more testing to do.

BTW for best power lambda should be .85 to .9

Riderx, go to www.techlusion.com and they have a support forum there where a gentleman asked the tech that very same question and the tech gave him a reply with
POT Settings
1. 3:30
2. 7
3. 4
4. 8:15
perhaps this will help, they do have some support forums on that website
