I love the look of the XBS with wrapped pipes. My Question... Where do you purchase the tape? What is it made of? How much $$? & Do you need to remove the pipes in order to wrap them?

Thanks in advance!

I didn't take mine off.
It's a simple job, yet time consuming.
Got mine from Summit Racing
Get it wet, and wrap.
Take a look at my profile to see 'em.

Where did ya start, and when ya came to the cross over of the two pipes, did ya go that far on one pipe and just overlapped the wrap and kept going down over that until ya reached the end? How does the start and the end stay from unwrapping I guess you wd. say??

hose clamps hold the ends from unraveling

I started at the front header.
I held the first loop tight and Shred put the clamp on.
I got their clamps, you just pull them tight, or you can use hose clamps.
I wrapped all the way down to where the header splits and got as far into the space as I could. Got to where the muffler clamps on and wrapped back up the collector to the rear head.
I still had enough to wrap the same way only in reverse back to the "Y" and up to the front head.
So I have a "double wrap.
You can't do the double wrap on the XB12 because the headers are bigger around.
Then I painted them with the silicon spray.
I can't find the part number for the spray.
This is the kit StealthXB and I went in on.
Hope this helps.

Only when you first start.
That extra set of hands just get in the way once you get the wrapping started.
There are about 5 Buellers within 5 miles of me and we all help each other out.
It's great!

Yup,
I think I asked this before, But I forget easy these days, What does one get from wrapping the headers in regards to either running a little richer or leaner all other things being equal, I think it was if anything a little leaner but I can`t remember...

Keeping the heat inside the header, it speeds (or at least keeps the same speed) up the exhaust gases.
Which helps with cylinder fill at over lap.

Did that make sense?

Blake said if anything it would probably run a little bit leaner than you would without the wrap.
When I think about it, it seems to me the increased fill would cancel any lean condition the gases pulling would cause.

Did that make sense?

Yeah your right, Now that you reminded me , I remember Blake saying that about abit leaner,

it seems to me the increased fill would cancel any lean condition the gases pulling would cause,

Are you saying then that you think it would not cause it to run If anything a little leaner then? Not so sure what ya mean by this?

Just saying that if you're pulling more fill at over lap it would be rich.
The exhaust gases being sped up at the exit would make you run lean.

negative plus positive

The more I think the less I know?

wrapped mine about 2 wks ago...left everything as is, but I did remove the right side air scoop. That gave me a little extra space to work with when wrapping the top of the rear header
