some of guys on here that are "connected",and you know who you are,or maybe even erik if he is lurking around somewhere,i have a suggestion or observation, whichever comes closest.since myself and one other buell brother, soon to be three of us,got our bikes and they became public knowledge, interest in the buell bikes is off the charts.they could really sell alot of the bikes if they would get with aafes and do 2 things.1]get more bikes and a better selection, especially the blasts.with the under 600 cc limit on new riders they would be the hottest thing since sliced bread.2]train the aafes mechanics, that are as of now only trained to work on HARLEY'S, to work on the buells.this is an untapped resource of riders over here.people can buy here, get a good deal and take it home with them when they leave.any input or ideas would be appreciated.you can almost ride over here 365 days a year,as long as there is not a typhoon at the time!!we could maybe one day have a brag group over here.what ya'll think?

Buell got about 250 sales in Australian last year. Not too bad for a niche product. 6% of the H-D totals. Honda on the other hand sold 25,500. So in a market where 90,000 bikes are sold, Buell is holding a 1/4 % market share.

Buell sales will increase sharply in Australia, I'd bet.

Australia, and the good folks at Morgan & Wacker, have played a key role the last several years. Many recall that it was at Eastern Creek Raceway that the best ever Buell product launch took place.

I darn near flew into Sydney for Paul's birthday last week, but it made no sense to fly to Oz for 1 day. Keep us posted on what you see downunder, I'm quite optimistic about the Buell prospects there.

By the way, the TEAM ELVES DOWNUNDER contingent is, at this very moment, at the Lake Gardiner dry lake making LSR runs.

Being that I bought my Buell through AAFES in Kaiserslautern, Germany and my servicing dealer is in Mannheim, an hour away, it would be nice if I could get the basic services done on post. Would be a lot cheaper, too, with the Euro rate being what it is. But I'm only having services done while it's under warrantee (and I get my shop manual) - after that, I'm doing them myself. I've been servicing my Kawasaki for years and I don't see any reason why I can't do the same on my Buell, except for maybe having to expand my tool collection a bit.

The dealer in Mannheim, though, has a great selection of Buells, and I see them out on the autobahn here every once in awhile..

Kathy, if you have been servicing the Kawasaki, you won't have a problem with the Buell when you get ready to do your own maintenance. You will simply find the Buell is a different bike, and learn what is different on it versus your other bikes. Best part, you won't have to adjust all those valves since the Buell has hydraulic lifters

Get that service manual...start reading it...follow the BWB...lots of good tips. You are set!

Ooh, I like the idea of hydraulic lifters. The very first time I did a valve adjustment on my Vulcan, I dropped one of the freaking shims into the head. I ended up having to go "fishing" for it with a magnet taped to a coat-hanger wire. I don't know squat about fuel injection, either - I rejet the carb on my Vulcan and installed a Hypercharger and V&H straighshots, but I'm not sure what projects I'm going to look at on my Buell. Right now - I'm just enjoying riding it mostly stock (have a Corbin seat on it).

I will learn to wrench my Buell, though, for the same reasons I wrenched my Vulcan - financial self defense and the additional safety when riding alone, which I do a lot of.
