I don't think I've been out on the CR for....maybe 2 years? Didn't ride at ALL last season, I bought a 1970 Dodge Charger and was playing with that all summer last year. But with $5 gas this year....the bikes are back in circulation. Been riding the Ulysses to work the last couple weeks and it feels GOOD.

The CR has been in the shop, on a tender, buried under 2 years' worth of dust. Checked the oil...full, no milkshake. Coolant, good. Crank? Yep. Fired up, idled till the CT COLD light went out. Cleaned and polished the plastics (black is a PAIN, but it does look good when it's clean!) and got it out of the shop. Took it down the driveway (1/8 mile). Tires, ugh! 22 front/26 rear. Fixed THAT, put a splash of fuel in it (light was on)...down the drive...feels good...back up...helmet, jacket, gloves...down the road (gently) to the stoplight, turned right in first, short shifted to second. Straight road, good surface, good visibility...opened 'er up in second and HOLY CRAP.

I forgot how scary-fast this damn thing is.

The REALLY scary part is, I used to ride it often enough that stuff like that DIDN'T scare me. Jeez.

But, I was still cackling in my helmet the whole time

Now, to wait for daylight to get longer. Those lights SUCK, and hitting one deer with a motorcycle back in '18 was enough for me. I'll wait for daylight before the CR starts commuter duty. But damn, it was fun being on it again!

Hi Joe,
Good to read that you are enjoying the CR. Scrub those tires in again!
Got to get mine out again. Had to put off riding for a while. Moved out of the MD republic. So, bikes have been stored a while. Remember the 1125r and the acceleration!

1125CR’s are still one of the coolest bikes built. I need to get some welding done and mine back together as your write up has me itching. Been riding four wheelers with fam but it’s not quite the same…
