Hey all ! Josh from North Carolina Here.
Just picked up a cherry and Red 1125CR.
This is my first Buell but my 45th or so motorcycle.

I bought it from the 3rd owner and apparently it started its life in WI just down the rode from Buell's shop?

That being said I could not confirm if the stator has been upgraded or the rotor as the guy I bought it from was not familiar with Buells when he bought it.

So is there anyone to check for that?
RED

No way to check but to pull it apart

You will need to pull off the timing cover and look at the rotor for the oiling hole. If you are careful you may be able to reuse the gasket. However, you will want to make the guides to reinstall the timing cover so that you get it aligned properly. (I am sure that someone can remember the tread that describes those bolts that have the cut off heads to make the guides)

looks nice. I have a red CR too! the stator is on the cover. 'guides' you will need are longer than the cover bolts with their heads cut off and pencil pointed. without the 'guides', pulling the cover off against the rotor magnet can cause problems.

It is pretty much accepted in these parts that the 2009+ factory charging system fix is a bad idea. this is the unfix:

Might want to check the stator condition

It will not tell you if the oiling rotor is installed or not. But it will tell you the condition of your stator

Before you go tearing things apart, check for the HD relay/stator fix. It would be connected in line with the stator plug and the voltage regulator.

If the PO did the stator fix it is very likely the HD fix was removed.

How many miles are on the bike?

What A nice bike, congratulations. Has the ECU been changed to match the Jardine exhaust? How does it run?

It is a relay that shuts off 1 phase of the stator, effectively reducing stator temps. Not really a fix but a temporary band-aid.

Hi Josh,

Bike looks stunning buddy and I like to think the sort of enthusiast who adds expensive upgrades like the Saddleman seat, steering damper, carbon bits, pipe etc is a proper Buell owner and if he says he has done the stator and rotor, he has done it because anyone will tell you that's where you spend your money first as its ok having a great bike but it's got to work.

Checking for the Harley harness is a great idea and that's why I love this forum for the clever ideas that save the rest of us a lot of time.

Great buy Josh, enjoy it!

Steve

Just ride the shit out of it and see. I'm on my 3rd CR. No stator issues with the first two, three however is another story. It needs everything. I should have kept number one but that S1K was too appealing.

Yes it must have the original stator rotor as it has the "harley fix harness" installed. currently riding around town my bike hovers between 13-14.2V. I am looking into the voltage regulator that I have read several use. It does have the EBR ECM but it runs pretty rough between 4-5k rpm at a constant throttle position...wide open it screams though
