My rear master cylinder seized a while ago. When i opened it, it was easy to see why as it was rusty and the piston was stuck. I used a hammer on the pushrod to free it up and managed to get the piston out. I then cleaned and polished everything, replaced the o-rings and put it back on the bike, but it was leaking so I thought I'd replace it.

Since the Stock MC seized after only five years and 9200km I searched the internet for other options and found that Brembo has one that fits with minor modifications.

Parts needed:
1x master cylinder (Brembo PS13 10477660 or PS11 10477650)
1x Banjobolt with brake light switch M10x1.00 (Brembo 0626MQ20)
1x Push-rod (Brembo 70.6002 or make one from a 8x80mm bolt)
1x 5cm hose with inner diameter 6mm
2x hose clamps that fits the hose
2x 6mm thread inserts (Helicoil or DIY as shown later)
4x 6mm washers

First thing to do is to get the mc to mount on the bike. The Brembo has no threads so you have to make your own to be able to use the original bolts. For this I ordered 6mm Helicoil-inserts on Ebay, but needed a temporary fix so I was thinking about using a longer bolt and a nut, but then i came across some thread inserts that are meant for wood and are often used in furnitures that I had laying. I grinded them down to fit in the holes of the mc.



You will need a new pushrod as the Stock won't fit. You can buy one from Brembo or you can take a 8mm bolt, cut off the head and grind the top a bit to round it off. Then put the stock clevis on your new pushrod (the one in the Picture under is a bit too long, but the one in the above picture fits perfectly).



Then you need to cut off the connector on the stock banjobolt and splice it to the new banjobolt as the connector on the new banjobolt won't fit.

Next step is to put everything on the bike.
Put two 6mm washers on each bolt between the mc and the bike to get the offset correct.
You will need a new hose from the mc to the tube that comes from the reservoir as the Stock is too short and has wrong inner diameter on the end that connects to the mc.

I would recomend that you use the mc with 11mm bore (PS 11) if you keep the stock brake caliper. I used the one with 13mm bore and there is very little play before the brake engages.
