I am reinstalling the fork cartridge and can't really get a bite on the allen head bolt that holds the cartridge in the fork leg…. its just spinning. The service manual just says tighten bolt 20-30 foot pounds…. Im getting like 1 foot pound. What am i missing. I tried using a power tool and stuffed some rags down the fork leg to produce some friction but no love…. just faster spinning… any thoughts welcome Thanks |

there's a trick, I think you have to pull out on the damper rod, or is it push in on it so it will hold while you torque it. I take it by cartridge you mean the damper rod assembly. |

Oh there it is, under disassembly it says to push the damper rod all the way down in order to seat it and prevent it from spinning in order to remove the center bolt and washer, but of course this applies to assembly as well. |
