So after 20K Miles seems like I just got the Clutch weep.

Bike wasn't shifting or getting getting out of first properly while riding.

Got to my friends house looked and the resvoir was empty. Put brake fluid in and it was fine.

Now a week later looked and see that its low again. Looked at the cover and yup its wet.

EBR is out, American Sport Bike wants too much for the kit and never ordered from out of the country.

Just curious whats the next step I could take?

The American Sport Bike kit is the one from Harley that fixes it. Al doesn't want too much, he is charging you what it would cost to get it from a dealer. If I were you I would just keep topping the reservoir off till EBR gets their kit back in stock. I assume by out of the country you mean the Oberon kit, which I've heard is nice but will cost a bit and take a while to get due to being from Europe.

Thanks Froggy. I didn't mean he was charging too much just meant it is more then I want to spend. I know he has to make a profit. I expect him and any business too.

That's what I was planning on doing as a back up.

Johnny - Damn you!!! lol

What about good ol' Dris? Twin Motorcycles carries a clutch slave cylinder with a lifetime warranty...

That is the Oberon unit mentioned above, I've heard nothing but good about it, but the cost and shipping to the states is the main reason people here are going with the EBR kit.

Pariah - I live in Chicago so not sure how long it would take for it to be shipped to me.

But Dris makes it easy to order "out of the country" and perhaps the OP is referring to unfamiliarity with that ordering process (rather than cost alone).

Craigg, I think Twin Motorcycles can be fairly quick (I've ordered from Trojan in the UK before--- who also carries the Oberon unit I should mention but forgot to--- and it was fast). I suppose all of this depends on how long you are willing to wait for EBR to restock.

R100rs from what I've read you can't go wrong with either one.

For me I don't see paying more for something that does the same job is all.

The Oberon unit has teflon guide bushes as well as proper hyd seals to give a lot lighter feel to the clutch ...also and i think quite important they fit one seal to the inner piston and the other to the outer sleeve not both on the piston as on the original. They also have an hexagon on the rear to assist aligning the unit with the notches in the clutch cover. Oberon parts are all excellent quality and guaranteed. Maybe more expensive than EBR but in my mind well worth the money.
Also remember the original did the same job ....just not as well or for as long ; )

True, but the original was made of lesser quality materials and was poorly designed. Here in the states, we can buy two of the EBR units for the price of one Oberon. Not saying the Oberon isn't worth the money because it is a great quality piece (its a shame that you can't see if from the outside because I really like that blue) but for half the price, why not give the EBR actuator a try and see if it hold up. Well, if you can get your hands on one that is.

Just replaced mine this weekend with the EBR unit. The EBR unit seems like it's twice the weight of the stock unit. I'm guessing that's because it's better. The whole job was pretty straightforward. hardest part was getting the DOT4 fluid to bleed properly.

I'm tempted to pick up both an EBR and Oberon unit, one for my R and one for CR. My CR is still factory original at 20k miles, my R has over 20k miles on the X2086.1AM kit that was put in under warranty. My CR never leaked, my R leaked early and had the kit put in at the dealer and has been trouble free since.

Johnny, I replaced mine with the EBR a couple of months ago. Just bear in mind that the fluid will get dirty very quickly and it may cause initial clutching. I had to change the fluid and bleed the clutch lines after about 40 miles. Also, I had to back the spherical nut off 1/2 turn to get the proper clutch engagement. Just a little info to keep in mind if you didn't know already.

Good to know. Clutch is engaging a little further out than before.

What is the reason for the fluid getting so dirty? Just curious.

I believe that Clutch fluid gets dirty because the seals travel a great deal and often compared to brake seals that only move a small distance.

Check out Oberon products at bluestreakracing.ca

It's across the border but not over the sea. I deal with him for most of my bike needs and he is good and knowledgeable.

No idea what the US price would be so send him an email.

I'm going to have to do the fix soon myself.

I honestly don't know why it gets dirty. I assume its because the new parts have to rub and get seated in. I just know that mine was filthy and I have read that the fluid gets dirty after the actuator change. Sorry I don't have better info for ya.

the clutch slave cylinder moves exactly 1.7mm,that's not a long way.

What I have noticed tho is that the 2 I've got are quite extended...as in out a long way. this means the center seal is probably close to leaking. and rubs on the lip of the guide.

By drilling the clutch nut all the way through and tapping the m10x1mm thread all the way,I can adjust where the cylinder travel is and make the clutch release more positive.

put simply the puller shaft is too long.

I contacted Tony at http://bluestreakracing.ca/

This was his reply:
The Oberon is going to sell for $194.95 and the slave cap is $69.95. Shipping in NA will be free. If it helps get things going I will do a 10% off intro offer for August.

Back to first post.

Same thing. Left the other day and bike took off when I put it into gear. I changed the lever position, it was better but it was still hard to find neutral.

I put Dot 4 in today and started up. Put it in gear. It lurched and stalled.

Question: is this like the hydraulic jack thing? Do I have to pump the lever to build up pressure?
