Well I'm off on my long awaited trip Sunday morning, heading to Santander, Bilbao, Andora, and the Southern France coastline and back again through the Pyrenees mountains.

Any suggestions of things not to forget ?? I've got a vast selection of tools, 500ml of engine oil, puncture repair kits, Co2 canisters to inflate the Tyres should I get a puncture. Spare key, spare gloves. Usual clothes and camping gear, and a spare belt.

It's actually amazing just how much you can get under the seats of the 1125

Selection of spanners, half inch rachet, cable ties, spare belt, full RAC equipment puncture repair kit, the supplied Buell tool kit, spare pair of gloves, extra tools to remove my yamaha front wheel, a load of ear plugs, and there's still some room left

Went a similar route in a Ford Transit Camper once. What a waste of good road! I'm envious of you. Have a great safe trip.

Parapente is the old term for Paragliding.
My wife and I were Senior instructors in Paragliding club and ran trips to the Alps, Himalayas, Spain (Picos Mtns) and several places in Africa. My mate, and one time climbing partner, John Silvester has flown the length of the Himalayas carrying a camera man under a tandem canopy. We lost the bug when I started bolting together homebuilt powered aircraft.

THAT'S how you fit the belt!

I was trying to curl it on itsself differently & couldn't manage to make it fit.

The only thing I'd have done differently is to carry the spare belt in your luggage with it less severely crimped ......this type of belt has a minimum recommended bend radius so coiling it too tight is potentially damaging the belts construction........... good luck with the trip though :-) .......1125's are great for touring I did over 3000 miles in two weeks touring Europe on the CR last summer when we rode to the Czech republic to watch the moto gp ...the bike never missed a beat :-)

OMG! Is that a matte-finished carbon fibre tail section? Where did you get that!?!?

I've been looking for matte carbon fibre replacement components(side panels, etc) for my 1125.

Been a huge fan of the matte carbon finish since I saw it on the RSV4 Factory and 997 GT2RS.

Thanks,
Nels

The belt is an old one which has let a few teeth etc, it's just a last resort get me home belt.

On ferry now, got absolutely soaked but it's all good. I'll keep the pictures coming throughout the trip when I get wifi.

In upper NE Spain in Catalunya, close to France, there is a small town--Cadaquez. It's a great place to spend the night! The roads in that area are excellent as well. Have a great ride!

Probably too late I know as you're on your way, but I would make sure those spanners are well wrapped and cannot touch the battery - if they short it out then you're in for a heap of trouble !

I speak from experience - once had a screwdriver get loose from the toolkit and shorted out the battery - nearly burnt out the whole wiring loom. Repaired the loom and sold the bike shortly after.

Wow - love the pics. Parapente is french for paragliding. I thought you were running Albert's exhaust?

Looks like a blast - have fun and post more pics for us to be jealous of!

Just got back from 2 days on the canal du midi, my grandad has a boat there so popped in for tea : )

Back in the mountains now ready for tomorrows canyon carving, can't wait to get back and edit the video footage.

Tyres still hanging in there :0

Great journey Avalaugh!

If you're heading East do not forget to take the N152 from Puigcerda to Ripoll.
This is probably one of the best motorcycle roads in Europe. Not for the views but for the endless curves and bends. Have fun!

Went to Spain today, had the best ride of my life, some serious liberties were taken but we all got back safe. Cannot wait to edit these videos.

Was out with some serious bikes today, ZX10r, APRILLIA RSVR, Hayabusa, Ducati monster S4 RS, ZX9R and me on the 1125r.

The busa had a incident with the tipover switch, got that fixed roadside, the Aprilia lost it's clutch, had to bleed that out. The Buell was the fastest most reliable bike of the day. It really surprised the other guys.

Obviously the busa had the legs but kept grinding out on the centre stand on the bends so I kept ahead.

I love my bike, done over 1500 hard miles so far, was over 30 degrees today, bike was HOT all day and never missed a beat, the thin hot air has sucked the power, no wheelies : (

Just a couple of taster videos, ignore the sound that's just us drinking in the evening. I video the laptop to get these clips as there's hours and hours of footage to edit.

There is one guy in the group I ride with that has similar grinding issues. You can be way behind him and catch him in the turns. When he starts dragging he slows his bike down fast.

Avalaugh - As I read and see your photos I googled Canal du Midi.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canal_du_Midi

A beautiful place to be with an equally interesting history. THX!

Yes it's swamped in history, my grandad traveled down the canals in 96' and stopped there overnight, and never left haha, he has many friends there now and stays there on his boat every summer.
