hey everyone, im on the fence right now about the barker's exhaust but i would like to know how it compares to the stock exhaust as far as ground clearance in concerned. Does it have more, less, or the same clearance??

I don't have my stocker around, but I am pretty sure that the Barker's has more clearance. I did however just scrape my can mid turn in a bump in the road. I am pretty sure that if I had the stocker on I may have gone down. I was in a corner at pretty good speed, guessing that my suspension was pretty loaded and the can hit the ground. I actually thought that it was just my rear suspension bottoming out. I love everything else about my Barker's. It's nice to not have to worry about hitting the pipe on a lean angle, due to the underslung design.

Oh, forgot to add, if Tbarker doesn't chime in, you can prob email them off their website, they prob have the measurements...

I think what we're looking at here is not simply a matter of "ground clearance." Any pipe that is housed along the center line would probably be unlikely to bottom out --- toe pegs should, I believe, hit far sooner.

But with a lot (perhaps all) of the aftermarket pipes, the pipe hangs off the side --- much like a traditional sportbike's pipe, but much lower. The D&D pipe is notorious for scraping. Jardine redesigned their pipe and mounting bracket due to a racetrack scrape by Jdugger; I don't know if the new design fixed the problem or just reduced it.

Craiga, the location of your scrapes --- on the side, not the bottom --- makes it pretty obvious we're talking about the same thing here.

I am just inquiring as to them ground clearance from the bottom of the muffler to the ground, my only concern is really bottoming out the muffler and causing it to dent or be ruined, since it is aluminum not steel.

with normal riding, ie parking lot speed bumps, etc, I wouldn't worry about clearance. the barker has the same, if not more than the stock.

I'm just glad it didn't cause a lowside but the muffler hit before the foot peg.
