brake pads are $___!? WHAT THE F*CK??? please tell me someone has 1125R brake pads for front and back for around a $100. I already lost $5000 grand 6months after I bought the MF'r. TALK ABOUT DEPRECIATION!!!!  | ||

OEM pads are that expensive. From American Sport Bike, EBC "street" pads are about $50/set (front) and "track" pads are around $100/set. I like the track pads, but they only work well on brakes that get really hot. If you aren't doing lots of track days, go with the street pad. | ||

Ebc pads may be better than stock in some applications but compared to GOOD pads, the ebcs are a disappointment. Dunlopad makes some great pads (great bite and stopping power cold or hot) that are available for the 1125r. They're what are going on my 1125 when the stickers are worn out. Part number is sdp3881 if memory serves. | ||

American Sport Bike sells Ferodo. I have enjoyed Ferodo pads with EBC rotors on my S1 for the last 12 years. When you brake, it starts stopping no warm up required except in the rain of course. | ||

Ebc pads in my front are good, no problems, Ebc pads in my rears, nothing but problems with noise had to replace them with oem. | ||

Ive used Galfers g1370 compound and the dunlopad hh+ is better. The dunlopad compound is the closest in performance to the vesrah srjl-17 compound, which is the pinnacle of pad performance but unfortunately not available for the 1125 series. My question is how gentle are they on the rotor? The Galfer are very gentle, yet the EBC was almost as good, but ate a rotor in short order. I always want to know that the pad helps promote rotor life as well as do a great job stopping the bike - lol EZ | ||

Dont forget, sometimes with the aftermarket pads you need two pairs for the front because there are 4 pads in there. | ||

I haven't used the vesrah or dunlopad pads long enough to tell how kind they are to rotors. The longest I've owned a bike with either of those pads is a few thousand miles. But if you want to wait a few years, I should be able to give you a longterm impression of the dunlopad pads on an 1125.  | ||

rear brakes are great for stopping a balance point/ 12 O Clock wheelies from becoming really painful or if you suck at wheelies dragging the rear brake a bit can help keep it up there | ||

I ordered pads online and the outfit sent only two pads. Dumbasses.After much hassling they finally accepted the return and refunded my loot. So I went to the dealer, spread my cheeks. I mean wallet, and paid up. Yes they are hella expensive. | ||

If asked, I would say that I was a light rear brake user ... But while having the tires replaced today @2,100 miles it turns out my rears were almost gone. Fronts looked okay. Shocked the hell out of me. They didn't have pads in stock, so I guess I'll order some. Mike | ||

+1 for EBC street sintered front FA454/4HH I've been using them for about 8000 miles now, plus abused the crap out of them at Blackhawk Farms during Homecoming. I haven't checked the wear markers yet since I got back, but they're still stopping me just fine. No serious fade at the track, although I think I need a new rotor up front now. I'll probably go with the thicker race rotor or the wave one and a new set of the EBC pads, they've done me quite well for hard street duty. Several stoppies in town (damn cagers) and a few on the track also while slowing for turn one. 140+ on the front straight is scary, I didn't tape my IC for the trackday. | ||

If the friction material in the pads did not wear on the rotor there would be less stopping power. Organic brake pads do little harm to the rotor, they don't stop very well either. It is a trade off, what are you willing to trade? | ||

danny has it. with a forged stainless rotor you gotta have something that will 'bite' into the rotor not just glide across it. good news is that it's forged stainless for a reason and even though they are sintered metal the pads are still softer than the rotor. thus they wear out faster. |
