Anybody heard anything more about the availability of the 1190RR body kits from Erik Buell Racing - I'm starting to get impatient and getting fed up with waiting for the seat/tail unit to become available ...

Call them and buy an 1190 if you're so impatient.

Nowhere did they give an estimated ETA, or even say definitive that they were going to be available.
Also not known if they are direct swap items, etc.

Only person to be fed up with is yourself.

Okay I'll be the first to bite. I haven't seen anything official from Erik Buell Racing about releasing anything to others than those who have purchased an 1190rr. Have you purchased said machine and are waiting for a replacement body? If you are looking to retrofit your 1125r with the body kit...all I can say is get in line, hope for the best, and realize that body kits and accessories is probably low on the priority list for somebody trying to restart a sabotaged business plan.

When they become available I am sure the link to the page will pop up here...so there you go, Bob's your uncle.

Damn too slow...sloppy seconds again.

I tried to get some info on the 1125RR kit last week, I got a polite reply that they would get back to me with pricing and availability info but I have not received anything yet. I'm assuming that they are quite busy as to be expected with any new venture. Since there are no bodywork listings on the web site I'm sure production is committed to new bikes. Be patient, "Good things come to those who wait"

Totally disagree with that statement - I'm sure Erik Buell Racing realise that it's existing Buell street bike riders that are they're best customers - the "racing only" is just an excuse to allow them to trade.

I have been told that the body kit for 1125RR is available from Erik Buell Racing for $1500. This is the 'no-fan' ram-air radiator set up, fairings, tail.

Sportster,

Point is, neither of us know. I will say this, they are enormously helpful on all kinds of issues no street rider would *EVER* concern themselves with such as weight, pre-drilled fasteners for engine bolts and oil/coolant related items, race body work, and so on.

If they are just using the "race" thing to trade street bikes, how come they are such track and racing experts?

After my big crash, Erik Buell Racing was very helpful getting parts to me for my track bike. I asked about the 1190 tail at that time since I'd smashed my subframe to pieces and they indicated it wasn't available except on the 1190 at this time.

Over time, Erik Buell Racing has also been very helpful getting some very unusual parts for me since I run a 16.5" wheel set. Mind you, I can't even use the regular rotor mounting hardware, so this is VERY unusual stuff, and they knew exactly what the issues would be and offered suggestions for me to try. Did you know a street legal tire in a 16.5 isn't ever *offered*?

So, my perspective is you got a straight answer, and that you under-estimate the number of bikes used legitimately and legally for off-public-highway motorsports, and the real purpose of Erik Buell Racing's charter and intention.

Sporty -

Also keep in mind EB's non-compete limits their ability to sell street bikes. As I understand it, Erik Buell Racing is a race bike company (at least for the time being). They operate on a limited budget, with limited staff, so cannot be considered on the same level as your local Yamasuzukabusa dealer. Talk to the folks over there, see what they can do, and send them your money.

I think that some of you are misinterpreting what I am saying ( 2 nations separated by the same language ! ), I am not "dissing" Erik Buell Racing, it's more that it is difficult to wait for something when you are unsure that it will even be available, especially when there are alternatives - even if they are less favourable. And I know that Erik Buell Racing are busy, that's why I do not want to hassle them with countless Emails about something that may never be available, others have posted in the past that body parts will be marketed - so I've taken their word at face value.
And I have no doubts that Erik Buell Racing are extremely proficient in what they were set up for - racing, I just think that you are very naive if you think that they aren't interested in the street bike market - it is only restraints put in place by HD that prevent them from going for that market more openly - I was surprised that HD did not put a clause in their agreement to prevent them from selling to the general publics - as was previously the case, a bit of a faux pas there on HD's part.

And everybody on here seem very keen on Erik getting back into the street bike market again ...

Well, I'll be the counter-party. : )

My next performance motorcycle purchase will be for closed circuit use only.

Because of Erik Buell Racing, I can actually say my Buell experience is better now that there are no Buell street bikes than before. The focus on racing and racing parts availability has been wonderful for me.

From the Erik Buell Racing website -

quote:

The 1190RR models are constructed at our shop from new 1125Rs with a complete kit of Superbike level components.

So I would imagine that the frame/tank would be the same, so it would be a safe bet that the tail would bolt up to a street bike - fitting the ancillaries may be a different story !

Ok, so let's try a different approach - who would be interested in purchasing a rear end body kit if they were available - it would give EB an idea on if would be a viable option to sell ...

I, for one, would buy one - as long as it's affordable, as I also have to factor in delivery costs, being in the UK.
