Hey everyone. I havent ever been in this part of the forum. I am looking to make the change to an 1125r as I am starting to see the fairing options and am loving it. I heard that the model year of 08 had some fuel map problems. is that a simple fix with a newer model ecm? is there anything else that i would need to worry about?

I have an 08, Here is what I had to get fixed:

Front Brake line recall
Replaced the fuel pump cause of the CEL and LFL
New instrument cluster (under warranty but the thought was that it would fix the LFL and CEL)
Current ECM flash
Clutch cover (small fluid leak)

Those are all warranty. If you need to get any of this done BE SURE YOU KNOW A GOOD DEALER THAT KNOWS WHATS UP AND CAN GET IT DONE QUICK. Alot of terrible dealers out there who will give you the run around.

Also, the latest ECM reflash will correct the fuel map issue.

I had to replace the rear turn signals and had to have the clutch cover replaced along with an overhaul of the clutch actuator. The brake line replacement was done....though I can't imagine why that was done, but no charge to me. The fuel maps are a piece of free cake (like the previously mentioned) for the owner. I really think Buell bent over backwards for me. No big deal for me.....though lots of folks on this forum seem to have had to check themselves into mental institutions (to hear them tell it) due to all the problems with Buell products. Man, just wait until they have a light bulb burn out in their kitchens! Armageddon! Dogs and cats living together! Oh My! All that said, I would have zero problems with buying another 08 1125R. Just don't listen to the trolls.

cool, sounds pretty good. Now i Just have to find one. I regret not buying one during the fire sale a few months back. The guys in the tuber section would castrate me but I might be selling the X1 to help fund this venture.

The fuel issues are resolved with updated programming. All it takes is a few minutes for the dealer to download the update to the bike. After that, you will be good to go, any potential issues down the road are covered by warranty.

Because there was a recall. The old way of routing it can allow the line to hit the tire.

If you get rid of your X-1, it WILL haunt you! I rode mine today. I think it may actually be against the law to sell one of them, if you already own one! Man, that thing is FUN! Good luck whatever you do!

I hear you Froggy, but I crawled around on the ground with my dealer, and we couldn't see what they were trying to do...I think it was just another case of Buell going above and beyond for the customer. I think I would have had to turn that wheel all the way around backwards twice to make that brake line rub.

You can see the mark on the tire from the line rubbing on mine. (Would only make contact during stoppies)
A few days later, the line blew, a few days after that, the recall came out. : )

Did you really turn that wheel all the way around backwards twice to do that? Hey, not arguing...Buell issued the recall, I had it done. Appreciate you adding the photo. Thanks!

No, that happened going forwards, specifically, on one wheel : )

May 08 build 1125R

Rear turn signals - warrantied, it was a known bad batch from the supplier.
Leaking water pump at the weep hole, its a small cold water leak, small drops at cooldown. will probably get warrantied this summer some time.

Other than that shes been good to go. Knock, knock, knock

Tail lamps quit working almost immediately but my dealer had the parts in stock. They also rerouted the front brake line and are waiting on the new part. Also have cluster problems as in the low fuel light coming on all the time and at times the neutral lamp stays on when shut off.

Did the front brake line recall specify to replace the line or just reroute it? Mine has the tire rubber still on it, and a small flat spot, so I want to replace it. Still trying to feel out this dealer, I've heard mixed reviews. Does anyone have a dealer in CT they would recommend?
